21 goals in 170 appearances (1 in 8) is pretty dire for a striker. Would have been disappointed if we were interested as we could and should do so much better than that.

Worrall 272 career appearances had only resulted in 22 goals as a comparison.

Zakuani is a former player at the Orient and was sold for a £1 million to Fulham about 10 years ago and is likely to sign for them I hear.

Knott was in initial talks with them last week.

They are making a number of decent signings and that is another reason to be frustrated with our lack of them.
 
Luton have pinched two of Oxford's star men as well. Must be paying well.

Not too fussed about Rea but my only concern is if he was the top target then how good are our backup options going to be?
 
Bad news about Rea.

Not at all surprised he's going to Luton as it seemed to go really well there for him. Turned in some great performances and the fans really took to him. Might not have been outstanding in a Southend shirt, but he's young and will only get better. Wouldn't be surprised to see him have a few good seasons and start moving back up the leagues. Would have jumped at the chance to have him on a permanent deal.

Let's be patient. This time last year there was panic as Shrewsbury had gone up and almost had a whole new squad by mid-June, yet they only just avoided relegation.

Good point above. And Shrewsbury only avoided relegation by having a clear out (hence Barnett's availability) .......
