Post-Match Thread and Ratings Yeovil Town 2-2 Southend United

he even scored once or twice,.
I’m not sure Waldron’s the answer, and I can’t understand why he’s suddenly being lauded. He played more often than not in the latter half of last season, scoring 3 goals in 20 plus appearances, hardly impressive. He didn’t do much in general play either, barely pressing when compared to the work rate of Powell for example,

Walker’s equally been fairly poor, scoring 3 in half a season (or perhaps less time if you discount time he was injured). IMO neither’s been good enough, but Walker has at least looked more threatening, and gets in goal more goal scoring positions when I remember the chances he’s missed. I’d prefer to persist with him or Kendall than revert to a past failure.

For now though, I know Bonne is not a goal scorer, but he is definitely one of our most effective players with regards to effort and creativity. Should be one of the first names on the team sheet each week! I repeat what I’ve said in a previous thread. What does DW have to do to get a start? The others have had their chance and produced very little. Perhaps they’ve discovered DW has webbed feet or something. The few games he played last season alongside HC(who scored today) he didn’t look too terrible to me. If he’s fit enough for the bench, he should be ok to play. Bonne,Waldron and Kendall to start against Woking. It’ll never happen!
Could not agree more. It is almost as if Kevin Maher (and I know this seems ridiculous when the Head Coach's job depends on results) is frightened of giving Danny Waldron a start because he might just prove his exclusion was unjustified since he recovered from injury months ago.

We are always told players have to earn the shirt. But Maher chops and changes the team based on his perception of the opposition and his loyality to certain players is not based on consistency of performance. At the moment, Southend have no forwards that are consistently scoring and yet he is not giving Waldron a fair crack of the whip at precisely the time when he should be applying his much quoted principle that no player has an automatic right to be included in the starting line-up or, for that matter, be excluded from it.

Another disjointed performance against a bang average side. We have to make the next couple of games count in the points column.

That said, at least we managed a point from behind and kept going.

Woking is now a must win.

We have to play Gateshead, oldham and altrincham. So the play offs on decided just yet.

They had a back 3 that had never played together before and we still didn't hurt them until the last minute and obviously the 1st, Yeovil are down to the bare bones and we couldn't beat them, couldn't even cause them too many problems, very poor with the sideways and backward passing, ok it's good to have possession but if your not doing anything with it then that's pointless.

It was interesting to listen to the Yeovil commentators, according to them their team were the dogs bollocks and (before the last few minutes) they were convinced that Yeovil could make a late charge for the play-offs. Now, I may have been watching another game, but I thought they were no better than us. So probably all the teams around us (excluding Barnet and possibly FGR) are pretty inconsistent and crap in equal measure (check out Rochdale forum last week). The play-offs are still possible, you just never know. I'm really disappointed to read that Wiggy won't be going to the Woking game by the way, I will miss his incisive wit and tactical analysis.
I was an impartial observer and you were by far the better team vut lost momentum second half but came back strongly at the end. You should do well

A shame we let that disgraceful lump they’ve got up front score - but he would’ve been running his mouth on Twitter after the game regardless of result. Don’t give the whopper the attention he craves
Not sure what is the most embarrassment thing about this weekend - Donald Trump, Frank Nouble for being so small time, or our fans for allowing Frank Nouble to think he is relevant.

Good character to come back for the second week running. Like against Tamworth it's probably a game you'd be looking to win in an ideal world, but football doesn't work like that and a great feeling to get the late goal and make it five unbeaten with two homes coming up.

playoffs are a dream ,some people need to wake up,draw against Tamworth with a late equalizer , Draw against Rochdale with a late equalizer , draw against Yeovil with a late equalizer, and some of you think this is playoff form, thats 7 points you dropped when it comes to catching up or making it very hard for teams like Rochdale who have 4 games in hand over us and Estleigh and Halifax, Think about how that extra 7 points would have meant tous and how hard it would have made it for Rochdale , There is no way we will make the playoffs. stop dreaming .

He has 1 goal this season and very rarely looks like scoring. There'll be much better options out there this summer. He plays similar to Hopper and we don't need both.
You really think there will be proven goalscorers lining up, waiting to sign for us.

Our only options are probably going to be someone lower down, who would be a gamble.

I think it's highly unlikely we'll get a proven goalscorer from NL or League 2, as we won't compete with wages etc.

I would also much rather have Bonne than Hopper.

It's never over till it's over @stewart, and there's nothing wrong with a little dreaming, it's what makes football so illogical and sometimes fun. Enjoy your weekend mate, I'll be continuing my dream on Tuesday evening.

On the Bonne v Hopper and Waldron v anyone debate. Maybe he's playing players that are more likely to be here next season, trying to get them to gel.

I don't see a huge difference between Bonne and Hopper and Waldron and Kendall/Walker so think it's largely irrelevant/personal preference who starts

Quite frankly, I cannot understand how a player who was knocking them in for fun in a poor team, albeit (only?) a division lower, and looked quite sharp at the end of last season, can now be so crap that he can't get any minutes in place of the current "strike force".

I fully expect him to go to another FL team next season and score loads.
This will happen! Kev obviously does not rate him.

Did you only watch the 2nd half?

You've got to have a dream. If you don't have a dream, how you gonna have a dream come true?
