Post-Match Thread and Ratings Yeovil Town 2-2 Southend United

Once again, players are good enough to win most weeks but our very useless manager refuses to go for the jugular.
2 games we play three up front, 6 points gained.
Ever since , 2 up front with the ineffective Hopper the new favourite, we huff and puff and rely on defenders to score.
Oh well another year at least of Maher ball until they do the right thing yawnnn.
Won’t be there Tuesday bored stupid by all this, no need for it but Mr Stubborn will never change!
Edit for accuracy: we scored after 31 seconds.
I guess Mr Stubborn is responsible for JB sticking it down the keeper's throat rather than either side, and Harry Taylor making a hash of the leveller?
Can't help but feel players have the greater responsibility once that white line is crossed.

It was interesting to listen to the Yeovil commentators, according to them their team were the dogs bollocks and (before the last few minutes) they were convinced that Yeovil could make a late charge for the play-offs. Now, I may have been watching another game, but I thought they were no better than us. So probably all the teams around us (excluding Barnet and possibly FGR) are pretty inconsistent and crap in equal measure (check out Rochdale forum last week). The play-offs are still possible, you just never know. I'm really disappointed to read that Wiggy won't be going to the Woking game by the way, I will miss his incisive wit and tactical analysis.

They were definitely worse than us. They had a tricky winger, a pacy forward and had been trained to defend. That was it. This does not mean we were good though.

What has Danny Waldron done wrong?
I doubt we will ever be privy to what goes on behind the scenes, but it does now look like our head coach just does not rate him, and it wouldn't surprise me if he goes out on loan. I would imagine that it is to do with what they see in training and possibly his strength to change or last a game.

I doubt he'll go on loan now - but I'd be very surprised to see him with us next season

I'd thought I'd post my opinion of the game whilst on enroute to Vienna airport.

Maher chose to put Goodliffe on the left side of the back 3. A player who lacks pace and would be expected to cover a non retreating Bridge. Yeovils second goal came from that decision. - Example of niaivity from Maher number 1.

Maher failed to orchestrate the team to protect the 1 goal lead. The team got carried away after scoring so early. No game management. - Example of niaivity from Maher number 2.

The second half performance was flat. The only urgency shown in the team was when we were close to conceding a 3rd in the last 5 - 10 minutes. What type of half time team talk did Maher give? - Is Maher able to motivate the team? Example of niaivity from Maher number 3.

The first 2 substitutions were related to injuries in the 52nd & 77th minutes. At what point did Maher realise that it wasn't working up top and that Hopper was adding NOTHING to the game? The 84th minute.! - Example of niaivity from Maher number 4.

Club legend he maybe. A hero for what he achieved last season. But what is he afraid of? Has he been told any promotion via the play offs is something that would come too early for COSU?

I want a manager who is brave and bold. Who thinks he already is? Cos I don't!

Fans Utd (Podgorica, Montenegro) vs FC United of Manchester in the Fenix Trophy on Monday night is going to take my mind off of things Blues related until Tuesday night.

That's a bit harsh on Bonne, who I think has started to play well. Still can't work out why he was left out today and then only given 6+ minutes!
He has 1 goal this season and very rarely looks like scoring. There'll be much better options out there this summer. He plays similar to Hopper and we don't need both.

So why when there was no danger of relegation and he had a method ( thanks to everyone else telling him) that produced 3 points instead of the waste of time 1 did he revert back to crab ball with his set ups?
Hopper/Bonne, Kendall, Walker looked good and worked twice….didn’t see that for long did we?
Should think anyone on here would have produced more points than Mr Safety given the tools he’s got to work with…..repeat, he is hopeless and will never get better!

Played alright I thought, couldn't finish a bag of crisps though.

Slow and ponderous is our way, which is a shame as I think we have the personnel to be higher than we are.

Kendall keeps being a live wire, everyone else was meh. Failing to see what Hopper brings to the party to be honest- plays like I imagine Bonne will be in 2 years.

Golding looks superb on the ball for a centre back - very adept footballer

Win the next two games on Tuesday and Saturday, we will be in the play off.
No, because in post 167 on the matchday thread you are bragging about being suspended from X for posting

"Because I put in a comment that I hoped “Fat Hippo to die by a terrible accident”

Do I like Nouble, no, of course not, but wishing another human dead in an terrible accident ???

Interesting Taylor played right side of the back 3 all game. Surely you mean left side.

For now though, I know Bonne is not a goal scorer, but he is definitely one of our most effective players with regards to effort and creativity. Should be one of the first names on the team sheet each week! I repeat what I’ve said in a previous thread. What does DW have to do to get a start? The others have had their chance and produced very little. Perhaps they’ve discovered DW has webbed feet or something. The few games he played last season alongside HC(who scored today) he didn’t look too terrible to me. If he’s fit enough for the bench, he should be ok to play. Bonne,Waldron and Kendall to start against Woking. It’ll never happen!

Quite frankly, I cannot understand how a player who was knocking them in for fun in a poor team, albeit (only?) a division lower, and looked quite sharp at the end of last season, can now be so crap that he can't get any minutes in place of the current "strike force".

I fully expect him to go to another FL team next season and score loads.
