First time seeing us live this season as opposed to just in TV and even more disappointing than I thought.

How we were losing at half time god only knows, we should have been about 5-2 up, but my god the lack of urgency in the 2nd half was unbelievable.

Late substitutions again also. Tippy tappy in our own half, one way then the other.

Our equaliser was a long ball forward, Bonne didn’t allow a clean header, we won the 2nd ball, one pass, shot, goal. Ffs, so simple.

It seemed strange to me that Maher left out Gubbins (left sided CB contacted to the club), to play 2 on loan right sided CBs instead, to play at LCB. Not showing a lot faith in his signing then.
Also, did Goodliffe start at LCB, and swapped with Golding at HT? Goodliffe got shown a clean pair of heals leading up to their second.

Quite frankly, I cannot understand how a player who was knocking them in for fun in a poor team, albeit (only?) a division lower, and looked quite sharp at the end of last season, can now be so crap that he can't get any minutes in place of the current "strike force".

I fully expect him to go to another FL team next season and score loads.

I really hope that things work out well for Danny elsewhere - he made a big move to come to us and full time football.

Yes - looked to me like Golding and Goodliffe swapped positions - not sure if it was at half time or before?

Before half time, after the 2nd goal as Goodliffe was getting roasted for pace with the ball over the top of Bridge.

Don't understand Bonne being dropped for hopper who offered absolutely nothing today. I imagine we will see a different combination of strikers on Tuesday again though as kev clearly has no idea who are his best two up top. Except it definitely won't be Waldron who he just will not give a chance even when he subs off both his starting strikers more than I've ever seen. Taylor is mistakes waiting to happen and his passing is terrible. Gus and coker were dreadful today. We approach every game with a how can we not lose attitude rather than how can we win, it's so negative still. I struggle to see any positives from today's game. We sat a goal behind and hoped we could ****house a draw rather than attack it and try and win. How anyone thinks we can huff and puff our way into the playoffs with this negative football is beyond me.

I LOL’d at that! I wouldn’t have Gubbins anywhere near the first 11 after that ‘performance’ against Sittingbourne. If the ‘worst Southend team’ ever thread get’s revived I’d seriously consider including him.

Edit: I only listened over the radio today, but can’t understand how Hopper keeps starting. We need a focal point for sure (Walker & Kendall as a partnership v Barnet was a disaster), but Bonne >> Hopper right now! Hopper’s been poor in every match I’ve seen, but Kev keeps picking him.

I doubt we will ever be privy to what goes on behind the scenes, but it does now look like our head coach just does not rate him, and it wouldn't surprise me if he goes out on loan. I would imagine that it is to do with what they see in training and possibly his strength to change or last a game.

I have to agree with you. Bonne has so many good attributes and is a much better option that Hopper. Maher is stubborn though and will carry on with his ways out of sheer bloody mindedness it seems.
I'd like to see Bonne and Waldron start a few games together to be honest with maybe Parillon pushed in that high position just behind, tho I do think Bonne looks best in a front 3 playing wide on the right
