Question What is making you happy today?

The fact that this should be it for a little while for this horrible mild, wet, windy muck we've getting with the weather.

High pressure-driven cold and dry for the next few weeks will do me nicely! Hopefully some nice crisp mornings, blue skies and cleaner polar air.

If it can lead onto a bit of snow second half of January and into February then I won't complain.

No, you can keep your snow! Cold, bright, crisp mornings please, to kill off all the bugs about.

I've finally sussed some of the lyrics in Bohemian Rhapsody which have confused me for years.

This is the line of lyrics where I had no idea what they were singing:

Easy come, easy go, will you let me go?
بِسْمِ ٱللَّٰهِ

The Arabic bit is The Basmala (Arabic: بَسْمَلَة‎ basmalah), also known by its incipit Bi-smi llāhi (Arabic: بِسْمِ ٱللَّٰهِ‎, "In the name of God")

Remember seeing Queen here years ago now ,Mainly due to the influence of a couple of my wife's female chums. Can't say I was too fussed about the lyrics to their songs. Not really the point,IMO.

Had problems online yesterday when booking flights with Virgin Atlantic, so went to their outlet in Basildon today.
Very friendly staff, & as they had a sale on, got 2 upgrades to Premium seats for £500. When we flew with them last Oct, they were quoting £650 each for this!. ( I waited until the day we flew, inquired at check in for any availability, & got 2 at £289 each, more expensive than today's cost ).

Daughter has just had an offer from Norwich University.
The good thing about Norwich is it's near enough for you to visit but far enough away to stop your daughter popping home every weekend. That doesn't mean you don't love your daughter to bits, but the increased parental freedom is very liberating for a bit.

Mine graduated earlier this year from Oxford Brookes. Sadly because of Covid it ruined her experience
Mine turned down a place at Oxford and decided Derby Uni would be her choice, nice and local for visiting, superb countryside around though! She's ended up living in Birmingham with her partner and child and giving up Phycology private practice (apart from 1 day a week) and now is a Senior Lecturer at Derby Uni.

After 29 weeks of total frustration of waiting for the Land Registry to issue a 'Du Bonis Non' ( look it up! ), it finally arrived at our Solicitor's today.
Dealing with the Land Registry is as frustrating as trying to push water uphill. Every time you make contact with them ( which isn't easy ), you get told a different story & a classic case of the right arm hasn't a clue what the left arm is doing!.
And this was only sorted after our Solicitor contacted them last week, quoting info they had been given pre Christmas, which they contradicted!. So our Solicitor registered an official complaint against them citing all correspondence since last June, & surprise, surprise it was granted the following day!.
