Question What is making you happy today?

I had to chuckle at the judgement of Walkers crisps v HMRC regarding if Walkers Sensations Poppadum's are crisps or poppadums and hence subject to VAT or not....

Nominative determinism is not a characteristic of snack foods: calling a snack food “Hula Hoops” does not mean that one could twirl that product around one’s midriff, nor is “Monster Munch” generally reserved as a food for monsters.

I think that's the VAT man equalising after losing the Jaffa Cake battle many years ago

Two weeks without drinking I have coupled that with a diet, my hands kinda been forced as I won’t pass my medical for work otherwise.

I feel really good about 6lb down at the moment, started at 15 stone 7lb and I want to get down to 14 stone as a minimum which should do me well for my height as I’m 6ft 2inches.

Mad to think back in the day say mid 00s I was 25 stone. Got some pictures of me back then I look like a different person. Disgusted me infact

We have a family wedding in Scotland in the middle of June. Up until last night we couldn't be sure if we could make it as my eldest son might not have finished his GCSEs and my youngest son might have been going away with his school for 2 weeks starting the day after the wedding.

It now turns out my eldest son will have finished his GCSEs, and my youngest son leaves 2 days after, which gives us time to get home!

I received a marketing email from Caffe Nero a few minutes ago with the subject "We'd love to see you again". This is because I haven't been to a Caffe Nero for probably over a year, maybe even two. I couldn't resist, so I checked the email address to see if it was a no-reply one, and it wasn't so here's my reply:

Guys,

If you really want to see me again you probably shouldn't have closed my local coffee shop. I work from home so unless I'm out and about, and happen to go past one of your coffee shops, you won't be seeing me again.

Given the situation, it's unlikely you'll see me other than very sporadically.

Regards

Whilst I was typing this post I also received the following reply:

"Thank you very much for reaching out to us Caffe Nero (sic) support. Your request (******) has been received and will be reviewed shortly by our support team..."

Finally completed on my property purchase after 5 long months of faffing from the sellers solicitors, last straw in my patience with them was when they refused to complete last Friday as there was an apparent £2.73 shortfall in the amount of Annual Service Charge paid by myself/solicitors last week when transferring funds across in readiness for completion.

I actually originally paid the exact amount their solicitors requested via invoice so it was all their feck up/ miscalculation anyway but they weren’t having it & dug their heels in!

Anyway alls well that ends well and I have just collected the keys from the estate agents hoorah!

The buyers for 'my other half's' late Mum's home in Stanford le Hope, have been patiently waiting for 11 months (!), due to the Land Registry 'missing' something when initially granting Probate, & then taking the last 8 months dealing with it ( disgraceful ). At long last we are at the final hurdle, as their mortgage application expired & they have had to apply for a new one ( successful, thank goodness ).
Hopefully they will be able to move in within the next few weeks, & there will be a large bunch of flowers from us, wishing them all the best & thanking them for keeping with us, when they could have got impatient & looked elsewhere.
