THE SEVENTIES NORTH BANK

The stripes are something which looks easy to do but I think would be really difficult to pull off convincingly.
If you want to create a convincing modern art display I think the trick is to exploit child labour. I commissioned my nephew when he was a toddler and got an abstract piece in blue. There's still some controversy about which way round the picture goes but I'm sure that will just add to the price when it reaches auction.
He openly admitted that when he started making paintings, he wanted to do stuff that anyone can do, and he has. He showed how he does it. The strokes are easy, only going over about 4 times at most each block or panel, with a wide decorator brush. Some of his paintings take less than an hour. He went to so many art experts and galleries for years and no one wanted his stuff. Little wonder. Now when you see a Constable, you can see the skill and talent that's gone into it. You know it would have taken months to do with small brushes. You can understand the high value. Then you see his work, some going for well over a Million pounds, and you can see he probably took about 3 hours at most. It's a crazy world. Regarding your nephew, with abstract art, wild free strokes are valued. Adults tend to put more thought into it. There was the famous one about 30 years ago, when an Elephant would paint with his trunk, and also splash different colours wildly onto the canvass. The Elephant loved to paint, and splash paint. As an experiment, one was valued by art experts, they were told that a mystery artist painted it. They all valued it at over £50,000. Lol.
