Saw them at Brixton in June 1991. Pale Saints supported. Great gig.
you are probably a little bit too young to have seen them at the Cliffs? it cemented their stature in SE Essex that so many had a chance to see them as they were breaking through. Couldn't move at SEEVIC for 'death to the Pixies' T shirts.

Wear your band T shirt to work day today - I've gone for a nice pink Deerhoof T

Is the Poppy a political symbol? This article goes a long way to answering the question.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-37834224

In the 70's , certainly amongst the peace protesters, CND supporters etc , the poppy was seen as a symbol which glorified war.
I feel that there are significantly more poppies worn and a far greater respect to the fallen these days than back then , so maybe it is not felt to be political amongst many now, but that may say more about what the poppy means today than what the poppy has meant historically .

Unfortunately , if you look at the amount of "poppy based" memes on social media being used to promote political organisations such as Britain First etc, whether they are right or wrong it is hard to escape its political implications.

Rather annoyingly no, I wasn't too young! I'd been to my first gig around 1 year earlier, but you know how it is - I was 16, on YTS wages so had to pick my gigs carefully, and besides I tended to only go to gigs my friends were also going to at that age and Pixies were a bit too sophisticated for the crowd I hung around with back then! I probably didn't start going to gigs on my own 'til I was 18 or so. I see Wolfgang Press supported them at Cliffs - how I would love to have been there.

Every day is 'wear your band t-shirt to work day' here, but for the record I'm sporting a Lord Ahriman shirt today \m/

I'm seeing the Pixies next week at Brixton Academy. They have sold out 4 nights there I think. Them supporting anyone feels wrong but it introduces them to a new audience. And Hyde Park is 10 mins walk from where I work so if I can pick up a cheap ticket a couple of days before I'll be happy!

Meh, you shouldn't be allowed to listen to Indie Music if you don't know who the legends are.

As my Joy Division T-shirt was dirty, I wearing an 1980's TV character to work day.

Where I work we wear T shirts but not band T shirts in case any bands come in and are annoyed no one is wearing theirs (or something). But Tom from Kasabian came in yesterday and compliment the shirt I was wearing (has pheasants on it) which will impress no one on here but I take compliments wherever I can get them!

Coincidently last night I googled a pic of Monkey to send to someone who was having issues saving things to their cloud.
I think we are spending too much time together and need to spend some time apart.

Got a new phone over the weekend (Alcatel Idol if you're interested). It's a great little phone, best one I've had so far (can't stand Iphones) and it came with a virtual reality headset which is truly amazing (and I'm not one to be blown away by technology as so much of it is utterly pointless). Trouble is;

a) If I use it for longer than 5 minutes it gives me a headache.
b) Getting it off MK Jnr is a task, as she too is in awe of it.
c) It kills the battery.

Coincidentally a week after the Zafira went in for its 2nd recall the engine management light has come on. It's cost me £200 to replace the coil pack!

Talking of cars, got mine cleaned today using one of those automated car washes, this resulted in my taxi sign being smashed. Then to make matters worse my starter motor has packed up while sitting at a taxi rank. I'm currently cold, hungry and depressed while waiting for the RAC to tow me to a garage

Getting stitched up on Ebay - 128Gb SD card which turned out to be 16Mb....not a lot of money and I'll get my money back eventually, but
