75mph you should be ok with, 80mph should be 3 points or a speeding course

I've not been caught speeding before so will do the course. I'll never hear the end of it if I am caught I give the Mrs **** for when she got caught and had to do the course. I knew it would happen eventually but not in the family wagon thought it would be on the bike.

Think I've been caught speeding on the A14, didn't spot the police camera van and wasn't sure what speed I was doing. Will only be 75/80 in a 70, will have to wait and see now!

Take the points, I did that course and almost slit my wrists through boredom.

I've heard that it is boring but my wife enjoyed it. I'd rather be bored for half a day than have to declare points. It's about playing the waiting game now.

I refused a course for a speeding offence in Dorset. You are supposed to be able to transfer to Essex but they refused as they clearly wanted the money for the course rather than to 'educate' me. I would have had to go down the day before and have overnight stay, so obviously said b.......

The fine was more than the course and I will pay more each year for insurance, so if you can attend locally, I would.

Don't car insurers now ask you to declare if you've been on a speed awareness course?

My wife renewed her car insurance after her course and they didn't ask. Apparently she was told on the course you don't have to declare it.

I guess the subtlety is about what you are asked when you take out a policy, what you are asked when you renew, and if you are expected to phone up and tell them if something happens, as per your terms and conditions.

[barna] I did a car insurance quote for my wife yesterday and they asked about speed awareness courses in the last 5 years. [/barna]

It's starting to concern me now you saying that, I'll have to sift through her policy notes to check and will check on mine too. When I took out the policy on my bike I don't remember being asked that question or did I ignore it because I've never been caught and it's habit?

I did the speed awareness course in March  and they said you don't have to declare it unless your insurance company specifically ask you.
I had to change my car insurance shortly after as I got a new car and they didn't ask

It would be classed as non disclosure of a material fact if you were asked the question and didn’t tell the insurers. In the old days the claims would have been refused and policy cancelled if a claim was made but I don’t think any insurer would refuse it now because of TCF and if the customer escalates it to FCA or Lloyds then insurers would be made to pay anyway. Worst you are likely to encounter is adjustment of premium backdated,so if you should have been paying £50 a month extra for 6 months of your policy if it were declared, then you would have £300 knocked off any settlement.

Islamic State have turned down my ex-wife's application to join them. I thought she was a shoe-in as she is halfway there already.

Andy Murray. It's quite painful to watch.

Why? He's facing the best tennis player of our lifetime (possibly ever) and getting given a lesson. Murray will never achieve as much as he should whilst Djokovic is still playing.

Apart from an Olympic Gold medal and Winning Wimbledon, which ain't too bad.
