Had a moving company around today for a quote, and the bloke put my missus under so much pressure to sign saying that "I agreed to use them" which is a big fat lie. God bless 'er, she stood ground and didn't sign a thing.

On the offchance you live in Slough, Northampton or Kettering or abouts, don't use HMA Transporters.

Following on from our earlier chat, have you asked your agent for a recommendation?

I'm extremely ****ed off to find out that our local HSBC branch in Hadleigh is closing. Our nearest ones are now Rayleigh, Basildon or Leigh, which is great when you have cash to bank a couple of times a week. I've always loved going in that branch (and working in it on one or two occasions back in the deepest, darkest 80s), and the senior clerk in there is one of my colleagues from our days at Southend High Street branch. Gutted about it.

Good idea. I'll try that tomorrow.

A personal recommendation is better than one from someone with a potential vested interest. We asked our EA and she sneakily recommended her dads firm.

In the end we used pickfords and have had a good experience so far

We recommend a guy but we know from all the feedback that we're given that he is not only excellent at the job but also much, much cheaper than most quotes they are given. Yes, we get a very small kickback, but if we didn't rate him, we wouldn't recommend him. He's recently moved people on our recommendation, from Benfleet to Scotland and to Dorset and the feedback has been 100%.

That's a bit naughty on your estate agent's part, but, again, if the service is good then does it matter? Most businesses work on recommendations in one form or another - Trip Advisor, yell.com etc..... it's all about customer feedback at the end of the day. Good service is good service, no matter who it is providing it.

I met him once down Old Leigh , he was with some other guy , they were fighting under the name The Klondike Brothers , I cant remember the other guys name , but they were massive .

That was back in the time when professional wrestlers weren't afraid to go out for a drink in Leigh

Driving back from Kent today I'm in a filter lane with two lanes merging into one - everyones following the driver courtesy of allowing one car from each lane pass except the complete **** to my left ahead of me who tailgates the car in front and refuses to let me through - made my blood boil and ended up getting a lecture from missus for my swearing and giving the **** the mock applause :<
