may aswell continue the rant, had my car 15 days! (08 Ford Focus)

Go to start it this morning and get an error message Transmission malfunction and car won't start, phone the garage I bought it from as car came with 6 months warranty and bloke on the phone says sounds like the battery is dead?! yep I'm not hopeful!

Reminds me of a letter in Viz

Viva forever! sang The Spice Girls. Well I bought one second hand and the clutch went after two weeks.

******** motorists who think the rules of the road do not apply to them and then have the hypocrisy to have a go at cyclists.

Also those motorists who don't give way to emergency vehicles because their journey is more important.

:raspberry: :raspberry: :raspberry:
I never think the rules of the road don't apply to me, I am a good, safe driver, and have never had any points EVER on my licence. I don't panic and drive up verges or kerbs if an emergency vehicle is approaching from behind either unlike so many, but neither do I obstruct, also I certainly don't ever jump red traffic lights!

So you've never broken the speed limit?

You've never gone over lights on amber?

You've never driven after having had a heavy night the night before or when on medication?

Motorists push the law the entire time. They wilfully break it when they feel it is safe to do so.

I hope when you pulled alongside the cyclists you gave them as much space as you would have done a car as the Highway Code says.

I am a cyclist and will regularly ignore red lights on pelican crossings if there is no one about.

I always stop at junctions though but make sure I get right to the front of the traffic queue.

My van was written-off whilst parked along the seafront last week. Someone who appears to have been speeding swerved to avoid a woman doing a dangerous turn. They hit three vehicles including my own.

Still waiting for the snail paced Essex police's report so that I can sort out the insurance and find a new van. Lets hope the plod get their act together for the Gillingham match

Petrol prices. I tend to use Esso at Kent Elms, one day 99.9p per litre, two days later 1.03per litre. And all the time the price of oil goes down.

I'm guessing they're doing Insanity. There's a guy I work with who did that and actually became less fit because it isn't really aimed at people as fit as him in the first place!

No idea. Two female 20 somethings bopping about pretty slowly to something. I'd imagine "Insanity" would be a little bit more intense?

So you've never broken the speed limit? I think everyone has gone just a little over but knowingly and intentionally, no.

You've never gone over lights on amber? Only when it's safer to do so than to brake, which is what I was taught.

You've never driven after having had a heavy night the night before or when on medication? Nope, my ex always drove back when I used to have "heavy nights", now a heavy night is a couple of bottles of wine maximum and if driving the next day, wouldn't be until it's well out of my system. My body has an automatic cut off point where alcohol is concerned and it's well away from being drunk.

Motorists push the law the entire time. They wilfully break it when they feel it is safe to do so. I agree, I see it often but I am so fed up with the way many cyclists take liberties. On the same journey I saw plenty of cyclists out wearing helmets (unlike the two I referred to) and cycling in single file (also unlike the two I referred to) according to the Highway Code, no problem at all with them. There's just far too many instances of cyclists rubbing their poor road behaviour in the faces of car drivers. It is, of course, also far easier to berate a couple of people on bikes than it is a driver of a car or van.

I hope when you pulled alongside the cyclists you gave them as much space as you would have done a car as the Highway Code says. Yep, as much space as a car door would need to open

Didn't OBL get done for speeding past a primary school?!

Initially, but that was rescinded and my "fine" for doing the speeding course refunded. They realised, as I said, that I had to put my foot down a little to escape the speeding van which careered around the corner too fast as I pulled out of the turning into the 20 mph zone.

As much room as you would give a car does not mean as little room as possible in order to ensure you don't hit it..

Would you pass a horse and rider leaving only a 3 foot gap ?

Wearing a helmet whilst cycling is not compulsory and their are certain schools of thought that as many rotational neck injuries are caused by helmets as brain damage saved by them. They certainly do not have any affect on other road users, other than those who break concentrating on driving to notice that the cyclist isn't wearing one.

"and cycling in single file (also unlike the two I referred to) according to the Highway Code,"

Rule 66 •never ride more than two abreast, So two abreast is within the highway code .

As for the 20MPH, you exceeded the speed limit intentionally, however your mitigation was sufficient to avoid prosecution .

Can we stop pulling me apart and concentrate on the morons who were actually doing something wrong??!!!

I'm on your side. Cyclists are morons of the highest order in London. A 16 million cycle super highway provided for them and they still prefer to take lorries and buses on. I have zero sympathy for any of them when they come unstuck. **** em.

Oh come on, spotting that a cyclist isn't wearing a helmet hardly counts as breaking ones concentration!

We get some right loons on bikes near my office in Camden, but to be fair the ones I'm thinking of have probably got bigger issues in their lives than whether or not they've got the right hi-vis gear....

Pedestrians walking out in to the street while glued to their phone screens is an increasing menace too, and that's for everyone - cyclists, drivers, even other pedestrians.
