I am absolutely furious about the news story I heard tonight about asylum seekers in Middlesbrough having their front doors painted red! As a result, many are being targeted. Surely this is just a short step away from the type of branding that went on to identify Jews? Absolutely abhorrent behaviour.

Shocking stuff; sort of story that leaves you open mouthed as you read it. Another scoop for the excellent Andrew Norfolk from The Times, who also did excellent work uncovering paedophile gangs in South Yorkshire.

First they freeze our pay so we don't get as much increase through the years. Then they add an extra £210 a year NI increase. Increase the price of food in the mess and accommodation and now they have stung me £208 off my next pay packet because they claim 'they over paid me'. All perks of being in the military are pretty much gone!

If I wasn't such a useless **** and had some sort of trade I would probably leave. Instead all I can do is moan on here about it and get ****ed in the arse by the military. We can't strike or do anything about it, they take things away from us and pay us less, increase everything else but we just have to sit there and take it.

Not many constabulary's are recruiting and to be honest things in that sector aren't great either. I'd have to take a pay cut to join either and I would be starting again. Unfortunately unless a job offer comes my way working for a specialist company on good money I will have to stay put.

Don't get me wrong I moan about all the ******** like pay etc but I love my job! I just hate the fact the government have us by the short and curlies and there is nothing we can do about it. Like all public services they seem to be preferring reservists/special constables and retained fire fighters because they are cheaper. So the base of full times are shrinking more and more. For the armed forces if we go into another Afghan or Iraq we will be ****ed as we don't have the man power! We've lost a lot of good guys too through redundancies lots of experience and now we have a load of young lads who haven't got the knowledge or experience. And the fact is they won't get it without any major conflicts going on.

It's a great job! I love it but unfortunately the government are ruining it. I'd love to live a little closer so I could have a season ticket again!

I worked at Comet as a salesman when I was younger. The targets were always ridiculous and it used to annoy me when it was a big sale they would tend to steer you away and give it to an experienced salesman. Who in turn would steal your commission! It's a tough business sales, I always wanted to go into car sales but it's so cut throat that I don't think I could deal with it.
