Question What are you reading?

The Beatles - Hunter Davies

Been sifting through the 2009 remastered albums, and fancied giving this book a go. Ridiculous really, I've read and watched so much about them over the years, there can't be that much I don't already know.

Just started The Tenderness of Wolves (Stef Penney) - This book was winner of the Costa Book of the Year 2006 - & have to say so far is a good read.

Just finished Scarlett Thomas' Our Tragic Universe, a decent read, I didn't find the main characters particularly likeable but it was quite Coupland-esque.

Just started Ian Rankin's Standing in Another Man's Grave*.Good stuff.Nice dedication to Jakie Leven too.

*The title is based on a mis-hearing of Jackie Leven's Another Man's rain.

Now on Last Argument of Kings - by Joe Abercrombie - this is the 3rd in a trilogy of books that are part Pratchett- part Tolkein- part Richard Adams - with sex , violence, swearing and attitude thrown in . Fantasy type stuff not really my type of thing but the humour and characters are very good and although these books are generally lengthy they are in my opinion well worth the effort.

Started The Ghost by Robert Harris - a bit of a departure for Rob - It's a bit John Grisham but so far so good , very readable.

I've read The Coroner by M.R Hall - detective story by numbers - pretty dull; and now a new Van Veteren book Hour of the Wolf which is great - plus coming up an old non-SF George RR Martin novel and a Fred Vargas (I love Vargas)

All The Pretty Horses - Cormac McCarthy.

Haven't read this in a few years, would recommend this and the rest of the Border Trilogy. He's the greatest living author IMO.
