Question What are you reading?

It's not as good as the Stand. Nowhere near as good.

Very little is. Read it twice, and it's huuugggeee!

Jack Reacher books are absolute drivel. If Lee Child can make it as a successful writer gives you hope that anyone can. It's as taxing as reading from the back of a cornflakes box.

I didn't really expect it to be. I have read the stand about ten times I reckon So am a big fan. Finished the game of thrones published so far and I have finished my other go to authors Jeffrey Deaver and Kathy Reichs So I was a bit stuck on what to go for.

James Patterson - bit of an easy read but good stories
Peter Straub and Dean Koontz are good ones as well - but Koontz is a bit hit and miss.

Fancied a bit of a change, so have started working through the Dorothy Sayers - Lord Peter Wimsey series. Not exactly high brow, but a bit of light entertainment (plus set in an era that I love)

The Constant Gardener - John le Carre

Reading a lot of later day le Carre at the moment, really enjoying this.

Excellent.Though I thought the film was even better.I think the only other JLC I've read was The Little Drummer Girl, which I also thoroughly enjoyed. In that particular case, the book was far superior to the subsequent film.

High-Rise.JG Ballard. One of his "alternative realities" that I hadn't managed to get round to until now.
As excellent as all his other late dystopias are.

Finally getting around to Dan Brown's The Lost Symbol. I know that's a cue for derision from a lot of you, but you read what you enjoy, and I enjoy Dan Brown's books.

What are you reading that tripe for, its mainstream and one Ive heard of.You would sound much better if you were reading some 18th Century Bulgarian's work on surealism.

I dont mind a bit of Dan Brown for a holiday read, didnt think much of that one from memory.

I came here trying to find inspiration for a book or three for my holiday which is rapidly approaching. Want something fairly long, but dont want it to be overly hard work so that rules out Ulysses.

Currently reading Ken Follets Fall of Giants, but the sequel is in hardback so dont want to lug that with me.

Plenty of entertaining reads that don't have helicopter flying priests and "famous" historians parachuting into a puddle.
