Question What are you reading?

The Gargoyle by Andrew Davidson.

I thought I would have been put off by the premise of this book, but it's quite absorbing. Give it a go.

read quite a few recently. reading soms Borges which is interesting, read a Lincoln Rhyme - Burning Wire, OK, bit predictable, some Stephen King short stories which were dull, a dodgy serial crime story so forgettable but an enjoyable romp. now reading the darkest room by johan theorin, which is absolutely fantastic. well recommended.

Does this mean other people recommend it, or you do?

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer. Just started it, it's ok. Deep dark Nazi secrets are promised and it better deliver!

Just finished World Without End, Ken Follet.
You know when you get a picture of a character in your mind, well for some reason I had Merthin down as MK Shrimper and Barna as Philamon.

Thanks. I think.

Well he was a good bloke with everyone else's interest at heart, but he also managed to make a lot of money and become the richest bloke in town. Not sure what fits there. However, Philamon was a complete arse.

Fortunately I don't read the sort of crap you do so I have no comment to make.:winking:
btw I'm currently reading Julian Barnes' new collection of short stories "Pulse" and when I finish the last few I'll give it another plug on here.

I am reading Anne Tyler's 'The Amateur Marriage' and am absolutely loving it. I have to agree with Nick Hornby and Roddy Doyle that she is just about the best writer around at the moment. Some might find her a bit 'girly' but I think she is incredibly perceptive. When my mother in law read Breathing Lessons she said that it described her life perfectly. Saint Maybe is her masterpiece to my mind, but this is brilliant.

 Though definitely not the money bit!

Jim Butcher's second series - Codex Alera: Furies of Calderon.

Taking a while, primarily because I never seem to have time, and when I do, I'm knackered. Seems good so far though.

Recently read...
Stardust - Neil Gaiman. Easy fun read, fairytale for grown ups. Must read more Gaiman.
350 Miles: An Essex Journey - K Worpole & J Orton. Book about the essex coastline, from the nature to industry, wartime relics, sea defences and history, it finds beauty in all of it, accompanied by some beautiful photographs.

Now re-reading The Hitch Hikers Guide To The Galaxy.
