I went to see Ian Mackaye's new band a few years back and the tickets pointed out that the gig would be dry which I assumed was because of him being straight edge but turned out that the venue was the Salvation Army's main hall on Oxford Street and the 'bar' was little old ladies selling tea and bakewell tarts while Mackaye played stripped down punk. Bit surreal. No sign of GZA or RZA that night, they were probably 'in chambers'. Or playing chess.WUGAZI - amazing mashup album

And Mr Deerhunter solo project Atlas Sound is immediately awesome, especially 'Walkabout'.It's a grower. The Deerhunter albums are really good, similar vibe but more rocky and immediate.
couple of years ago I saw 5,000 school kids singing Beatles songs at the O2, was ace, no 'Helter Skelter' though. The Beatles on mass rotation. At the moment the past seems a better place.
Gary Moore - After Hours - I am having an Irish Bluesman week
This lunch-time I have mostly been listening to the reggae dub poet, Linton Kwesi Johnson, and his 'Independant Intavenshan' (The Island Anthology). I've got all the records on vinyl but ordered this cd last week to make listening life a little easier - it seems strangely topical.
