RIP David "HoneyBoy" Edwards.A true King of the Delta Blues and right up there with Robert Johnson and Charley Patton.I had the great good fortune to see him live at The Cerdanyola Blues Festival(here in Barna)a few years back and get his autograph on my copy of his "autobiography".

Professor Longhair.Live on the Queen Mary.First chance I've had to play this since I dug it out the other day(forgot about the cover photo by Linda Mcartney).Simply wonderful.

Wichita Lineman

Glen Campbell's 20 Golden Greats

Interesting interview with him in The Guardian the other day. He's 75 now and suffering from Alzheimer's.

That line from WL:-"And I need you more than want you.And I want you all the time." has to be one of the best ever in pop.Thank you Mr Webb.

John Hiatt:Dirty Jeans and Mudslide Hymns.Another superb album from this hugely under-rated singer songwriter. This opening track and Train to Birmingham are the standout tracks on the cd for me.

Ry Cooder:Pull up some Dust and sit down.

No Banker left behind.(If only):smiles:

He's crap live(IMO)but this is another excellent album from the man whom the Observer recently called the Woody Gutherie of our times.

Easily the best track on Ry Cooder's"Pull up some dust and sit down".Enjoy.

From Stuart Maconie's Freak Zone last night on BBC6, a truly brilliant melding of western pop and Syrian/Iraqi music (or so I'm told) by Bjork & Omar Suleyman. Check it out, about 1:02:50.

Oooo I was listening to the too, the Bjork track as ever is ambitious and successful. He played Beth Jeans Houghton too, she is a real star as she comes up with interesting looks as well as sounds.
