You make it sound like we have everyone behind the ball and hope to nick a goal, which isn't what I see. When we don't have the ball then we become solid, but every team does that otherwise if you have 2 strikers and 2 wingers up front, the 2 midfielders get overrun and defending becomes almost impossible.

Another scenario made up. Could easily have conceded in the first 15 minutes and then got a red card, meaning we could have been battered by 3 or more.

Defending corners, we always have 1 up there - although you've ignored this again - who is against 2 defenders. Then you have a goalkeeper who isn't marking anyone and at least 1 on the post and most likely 1 between the 6 yard box and the corner taker. That suddenly becomes a 7 v 7 for the rest.

As I and others stated we defend corners with everyone back,Do you actually go to games I am not being funny just asking.

Opponents have their keeper 2 defenders and the corner taker leaving 7 in or around the box whilst we have 11,If we left 2 up the pitch the opponent will have 3 maybe 4 defending plus the keeper and taker so in reality we would be defending 9v6 or even 9v5.

Im pretty sure we have left players up at corners, even if not its a tactic that our last 3 managers have employed.

Leaving one player up front achieves very little as they have little chance of ever winning the clearance.

No one leaves two players up.

So after 13 pages it is widely agreed that people all have different ideas on formations. Sadly the only person that can be judged is PB and really he is damned if does and damned if he doesnt.

We can all talk about Germany and goals and who we would play and in what position, yet we ALL can hide behind our keyboards, or pints, or programmes and say how we would be different from PB, or PS or who ever is in charge, yet we can never be bought to task about our views.

The one thing is though, it seems that with some, there is an under current of people that want PB to fail, just so they can say that their own "Champiosnhip Manager" formation would have dont better ....

Oh wonders of football, its all about opinions with fans, never fact, as we can never be proved right or wrong !

Personally, for me, I trust PB. I like that he doesnt want to conceed goals in the hope that we can score more, for me that is a tactic that doesnt work, as I would like to thing that we can keep games tight and look to nick a win, as opposed to chase a game. But that is my own opinion. I think we have the players in the squad that can get the goals to win games and quite frankly I would take 1-0 every game, as all I want to do is get out of this league. Entertainment derives from confidence and when we was on a run last season, Millwall, Chesterfield, Portsmouth away etc, will live long in the memory and for me dispeals the negitivity shown to PB by some on this thread in that his teams cant score goals !!

That is what football is all about ..Opinions!

Imagine if everyone on here all agreed on everything this place would soon cease to exist as it would become boring!

....as opposed to repetitive debates about the same thing.

Maybe?

But most on here have become involved and had their say which is good,I enjoy reading different views of the game and judging by the number of views on here with this thread many enjoy when I am castigated by the majority.

Remember nobody died through the making of this thread.

Debate and discussion is great, and what the Zone is here for, it is its sole purpose.

Repeatedly posting the same points when others give reasoned responses to show they arent the case is however pretty dull.

When we lose a game or two and someone comes on to repeatedly tell us all exactly what is wrong when their arguments are massively flawed is tiresome.

At least its constrained to this one thread, even if its wildly off topic

Trust me I hate having to repeat myself because I would rather be talking about a fantastic 4 0 win or a 3 2 thriller.

that was actually quite funny, the thread has definitely peaked - and about ****ing time too!

I rather talk about what happened to the Eastwood money ..... :whistling:

Or a 7-2 defeat because our wingers didnt track back and we left two up front for corners.

7 2 loss would be unacceptable:winking:

Unless we were playing Roy's wonderful all out attack minded England team,But that is another story :winking:

I now feel left out that i didnt get a PM from the mystery source, is this another SZ clique in the making, It has Curry club written all over it!!!

I see a strong defence, not a team that throws 11 behind the ball to keep the opposition out. We have height, strength, one of the best left backs outside the Championship, all in front of a young keeper on the verge of the England U-21 squad.

That is the reason we don't concede many goals, not because PB has his tactical emphasis on defence.

I also see strikers that other clubs rate and would have loved to sign. I see plenty of great approach play and lots of chances made. I see height, pace, power and creativity. We have a midfielder in Hurst that - I believe - topped the L2 assists table last year and also scored double figure goals. In Leonard we have one of the highly rated midfielders in L2 as well as two up and coming youngsters in Clifford and Payne who are starting to really blossom.

Coulthirst is a player capable of getting you out of your seat and is also extremely pacey.

Unfortunately, what I also see is that for whatever reason, these professional players are struggling to hit the target.

That is the reason we haven't scored enough goals.

I really don't think Browns tactics are the issue here. We need a little luck in front of goal plus perhaps the emphasis on target practice.

We will be fine.

It's funny, but I'm sure in all the games I've seen this season it is very rare for us to bring everyone back. Corr has to go back because his height and presence are invaluable defensively, but I'm sure Weston or someone usually stays up.
