You can't tell me what to do! :raspberry:

I see a strong defence, not a team that throws 11 behind the ball to keep the opposition out. We have height, strength, one of the best left backs outside the Championship, all in front of a young keeper on the verge of the England U-21 squad.

That is the reason we don't concede many goals, not because PB has his tactical emphasis on defence.

I also see strikers that other clubs rate and would have loved to sign. I see plenty of great approach play and lots of chances made. I see height, pace, power and creativity. We have a midfielder in Hurst that - I believe - topped the L2 assists table last year and also scored double figure goals. In Leonard we have one of the highly rated midfielders in L2 as well as two up and coming youngsters in Clifford and Payne who are starting to really blossom.

Coulthirst is a player capable of getting you out of your seat and is also extremely pacey.

Unfortunately, what I also see is that for whatever reason, these professional players are struggling to hit the target.

That is the reason we haven't scored enough goals.

I really don't think Browns tactics are the issue here. We need a little luck in front of goal plus perhaps the emphasis on target practice.

We will be fine.

Can't agree with this more, have some green - you deserve it!

s I and others stated we defend corners with everyone back,Do you actually go to games I am not being funny just asking.

Opponents have their keeper 2 defenders and the corner taker leaving 7 in or around the box whilst we have 11,If we left 2 up the pitch the opponent will have 3 maybe 4 defending plus the keeper and taker so in reality we would be defending 9v6 or even 9v5.

Do you ?

Just watched the Carlisle game online, and we we didnt bring everyone back, we left someone up front.

Wimbledon game, first two corners I watched we left Coulthirst up front.

Stevenage , first corner same thing.

So thats that argument gone then.

Which is exactly what I said (though I thought it was Weston!)

We won they lost :happy::happy::smile::smile:

You are debating pointlessly. You are quite right in your assertions and for me its not about being defensive, how ever much a certain he/she/heshe wishes it to be. It is all about our final third play, positioning and principally finishing.

Sometimes I wish we were a little more counterattacking as our pace would then really come to the fore but we try to defend well and we create much. Eventually with a little tweaking I am sure this side can boot on and climb the table.

I posted that because throughout mrsblue has used it as an example to show we are too defensive, and its not even correct.

Totally agree with you, its all about that quality in the final third.

Watching snippets of those games and I really dont see how he even thinks we are just going out to defend, theres some really good open play in some of those clips, its just the end product lacking.

Guess its all down to perception and when you get poor results its easy to ignore anything good that happens on the pitch.

Think Weston was the man left up a couple of times too.

What I want to know is are we leaving these players upfront because of a contractual obligation?

If they were as fast as Jason Williams they could cover both boxes; and the others that are blackmailing PB aren't able to run back as fast as he can!

This thread is like finding you had a veruca, having it treated, thinking it has cleared up, and then it just won't go away. And just as painful. Maybe we should have hung on to Freddie, I bet he would have scored 10 by now:smile:

Shaq seems to be doing ok, so I don't see what the problem is. Ok, he needs to learn to hit the back of the net, but that's why he's on loan with us and not in Spurs 1st team. It's early days, but I think we've got plenty of attacking options at the moment (Corr, Barney, Shaq, Weston. Layne etc...). It'll come good..in PB we trust. Sorry for being so positive on the Zone !!

Outrageous! How dare you suggest that etc is above the divinity of worship by MrsBlue whose name you don't type and neither will I.

you're right...and in the first half Stevenage took possibly the worst corner ever and we could have scored from it...a guy ran short as a decoy and the corner taker played it behind him to someone lurking outside the box - only there wasn't anyone lurking outside the box and the ball headed straight for Coulthirst on the edge of the centre circle. If he hadn't have been so surprised and nearly fallen over to allow their defender to intercept he would have been through on goal

I think this thread has been every which way but loose ..so we are done now.
