Transfer News and Gossip Wa Hoo a genuine transfer RUMOUR

Transfer news
Wonder if John Still has got himself over to Amersham Town yet to check out their talisman, 21 year old Jake Tabor who has 33 goals and 8 assists in 27 games in all comps this year.

Amersham play at Step 5 which is equivalent of the Essex Senior League. Last season he fired Amersham to promotion with 76 goals and 25 assists in 44 games.

The season before that he scored 35 goals in 24 goals for Rayners Lane (unsure what division)

At just 21 I’m sure John Still has been alerted about him. Last November, Tabor spent time on trial at Wycombe.

Wycombe have got a keen eye on non league after signing Richard Kone from under our noses from the Essex Senior League.
The level is low but those are mad stats for a 21 year old

I watched The Col U - Swindon game tonight.

Swindon are God awful, must have been for Col U to score four.

Anyway, whilst we are a little disappointed with Macca, but accept he is improving, Tshimanga looked totally out of touch up front for Swindon.

Not surprised with their lack of build up play. But just a little nudge that make the wrong move to a club whose style doesn't suit and if everything was based on stats, you wouldn't touch Tshimanga.

I wouldn't mind betting he will be back down at this level possibly this season. Put him in a team who build up through the park and play the channels and he'll score again.

If he went back to Peterboro, I wonder if we'd still be interested?
When he played against us last season he was woeful. Time will tell but I thought we may have swerved one when he went elsewhere.

Tshimanga has been woeful for a while. He got a bad injury and never been the same player since.

Tovide at Colchester is looking a real player in the making

Didnt a certain Goodship have those kind of stats before he came to us. Just saying
Could say the same for Richard Kone who was playing step 5 (ESL) for Athletic Newham last year. Wycombe took a punt in January and now he’s the top scorer in league 1 and also has goals against Swansea & Villa in the cup this season. Anyone from that level of football will be a punt but the risk is so little it’s almost always worth doing a deal if the stats speak for themselves.

It’s not always worth doing the deal, some of these types of deals are rarely cheap.

I had a mate, who played at Bowers & Pitsea, that worked in London, and was earning decent money. Col Ewe wanted him, but couldn’t get anywhere near offering the money that would have made the deal worthwhile for him.

Cook at Wealdstone, has a high earning job at Nike, and is able to stay part time at Wealdstone and work around that. Some League One clubs would struggle to offer him the money.

Just because they play at a lower level, doesn’t always mean they’ll be cheap.

We spoke to a goalkeeper in the summer, very highly rated at his club and level, but he is a PT on the side of his football. Again, he has built up a successful career and works it around his football. We couldn’t offer the money, and the security he’d need.

Waldron has taken the gamble. He worked full time, and is on a pay cut playing at us. Not everyone will take that gamble.

For every one Richard Kone, there are 10 Mark Salter’s, Brandon Goodship and so on. There is absolutely talent at that level, but it’s not always cheap.

Im of the opinion if the management think hes worth a punt go for it, but if they do hopefully he will be given an opportunity to shine, unlike like Wood who i believe hasnt been given that opportunity and to a certain degree Wind who got the opportunity was voted best on ground then dropped back to the bench .

After the weekly question about transfers, Maher replies: "We've identified, we want to work and we want to sign but things change obviously.

"We've tried. We've got a transfer committee where we've got to get things and how it's going to work.

"Data will play a part in that as well so there's a lot of change around the place.

"We want to add at the right time."

I did ask this question the other day. Is Maher happy with the changes to the transfer policy? Stan alluded to those changes and there was no smoke without fire with what he said.

Kev has seemed very tetchy for a while, even more than he did last season.

I hope Mr. Data is putting his money where his mouth is..

Does sound as if the new COSU guy may be getting involved in football related rather than finance related matters. Doesn't sound good to me.

All sounds a bit overly complicated.

Transfer committees, data etc. We are a NL side. Is this necessary, really?

Doesn’t sound like Kev is entirely onboard with it either?

Hope this doesn’t all end in tears.

Without being rude you looked quite up tight after the final whistle on Saturday?

Maher: "It's just the general thing around the place a little bit and what I feel if I'm being honest.

"For whatever reason I think it's a mixture of frustration and relief, everything really.

"It's like that a little bit because there's a lot of changes happening around the place. I think that's for everyone."

Depends. The real nuggets are the ones the data doesn’t show yet- can only be identified by the masterful eye of a Still. The data will catch up after the signing.

The ones the data already identifies, are the ones that many other clubs have identified as well. Moneyball is over a decade old and versions are used by a number of clubs. This is fine, but competition does drive up ££. Also fine if you are prepared to invest.

Don’t get me wrong, if this approach is accompanied by meaningful investment we can fly. If not frustration may follow. Let’s assume the glass is half full and the the sun has got his hat on…

Surely transfers are major part of finance. All owners get involved in some way and as we have a coalition of 11 people. So that's bound to happen. Doesn't mean they have to make Ron type decisions but they certainly wont allow a Braintree situation either.

A little Ron sorry for you. Ron informed PB on a Thursday that he had excepted the bid from Sheff U and Lenny is off. Then added never mind I've lined up a striker on loan, a player PB wasn't to keen on. PB explained he needed a CM for Saturday, Ron suggested Lenny play one last game......Like Sheff U would agree to that or Lenny would risk his financially secure future in 'one more game'
