Transfer News and Gossip Wa Hoo a genuine transfer RUMOUR

Transfer news
Lots of things going on here.

Stan's comment was NOT about data driven signings, it was about signing Moncur and Bonne, where maybe some data would have been useful. Gulati wasn't here then either. The Brentford and Brighton approach than Stan advocated uses data quite heavily in identfiying players. Adding Gulati's approach and expertise would seem to enable us moving further in that direction. But obvioulsy Brghton and Brentford watch players too otherwise it wouldn't have been so successful. There's still room for the John Still's of this world. So, is what we're trying to do now really a departure from what was set in stone a couple of years ago by Stan? The only anomolies have been Moncur and Bonne.

All that aside, Kev has seemed very stressed for a long time now. Am worried about him.

My reference to Stan's comments about change was more aimed at the recruitment and not the data side. As you say, in an ideal world, a seasoned pro like John Still and modern data should be able to work collaboratively in a progressive manner, but let's see.

Whatever is happening, and something clearly is happening, Kev has seemed very irked and tetchy for a while. It's not just results either, he's been very snappy in interviews and his latest comments regarding transfers doesn't sound like someone that is 100% happy.

I said this the other day, I do wonder if we are going down the route of head coach that coaches the players that are given, rather than the players the manager personally wants. Modern football is like that now. If we are going that way, I wonder if that's what Kev wants.

We are all championing communication at the club and I do feel that an update at some point regarding the clubs transfer policy would be most welcome. The Peterborough owner is very transparent about that at his club. They recruit young and sell on. Everyone knows it and that's the way it is. I know a similar model has been mentioned on here but it would be nice to be on board with a transparent plan as a club.

The major difference re the original plan is the B team where the unpolished diamonds would develop and get game time (so quite a big change for now at least).

I’m sure he won’t want - who on earth would. What I’ve noticed is that even where the manager doesn’t recruit players he is miraculously somehow always, without exception, responsible for the outcome. I see managers being sacked but owners somehow never sack themselves. I assume this would need a new Head of Football who should also own the signings that go wrong- normally they are tight with the owner and refuse responsibility blaming the manager for not getting a tune out of players he never wanted in the first place. Normally it takes a few managers to go under the bridge before the Head of Football follows. The owners of course never make mistakes ( you can argue that is a privilege that comes with pumping money into keeping clubs afloat).

That takes poor old Braintree down to a squad of just 16 as they tumble down, but still got 35 year old Akinde and someone called Lomas
