USA bad cops.

As I said earlier in the thread, if this had been a REAL gun and the police hadn't have taken the action they did, then they would have been criticised totally. They were in a no win situation, and were left with little alternative.

Why? Not everyone with a gun on them should automatically be shot dead.

Although just having watched a longer version of the video. The policeman just pulled up alongside and shot barely being out of the car with the boy 5 feet away. That could've been handled a lot better I feel.

Their actions border on lunacy yet they will carry on with their lives without any cares,at that distance they could easily go for leg wounds .

As already said, that wouldnt work, its not the movies.

Brown was shot plenty before he stopped moving, you arent going to shoot someone with a gun in the leg, they will still shoot back.

If armed officers can't aim at the legs what do they do in training? In fact, why bother training them? Just give them a gun and tell them to shoot everyone as the law will cover them. The facts speak for themselves; thousands of people killed by guns every year, police who seem to prefer killing black men, everyone twitchy and one of the most sinister organisations in the world (the NRA) insisting on more and bigger guns for everyone. You've got it wrong, America.

They can aim at their legs, and the criminal can then shoot them in the face, so hows that help?

Rest of your post is the problem, lots of guns mean shootings, some will be mistakes.

They train them to shoot centre mass (torso). A shot to the legs (apart from being very tricky, lead to ricochet of bullets) could well kill anyway therough blood loss as they are a mass of important viens and arteries.

British cops shot those jihadi numpties after they killed Lee Rigby. They took a risk but figured that they'd be quicker than the pond life they were facing. We wouldn't give guns to a loose cannon (no pun intended) over here. There are many US cops who couldn't even be trusted with a knife and fork. Oh, and it's also in the films that people carry on shooting once they've been shot. The forces of a gunshot are likely to knock someone off balance at least. Jesus, I'm sounding like Alan Partridge. Move and shoot, move and shoot.....

No they're not. As mentioned in the thread and QI, people don't know when they've been shot.

You have big bones in your legs. You'll know if a bullet hits them. I understand what you're saying but, as I said, the facts speak for themselves. American civilians AND American cops tend to kill lots and lots of people. Maybe they should rethink they're approach to the use of guns. They should also aim for the body mass of anyone who uses the word 'soccer'...David Beckham first.

Must go. I have to look at the other pictures in the Daily Mail.

I think some people here are confusing misty eyed memories of their youth with kids of today! British 12 year olds are a lot cooler these days.

I don't dispute for one minute that the American gun laws and the attitude of a lot of Americans to guns is responsible here, but I just don't think you can get away from the facts that the kid was waving a gun around in public. Unless you are a gun expert I think most people WOULD read it the way the police did, and him going for his waistband where the gun was precipitated his death. I can't believe people really are blaming the police here.

How is that any different, they shot them just as the US cops would do.

How many shots did it take to put Brown on the floor? He had been shot a few times and was still on his feet.

Ive seen a clip on those "Cops" shows where they have had an officer and a baddie shooting at each other and he has hit them a couple of times and he kept shooting back.

Trying to shoot a smaller target,in the heat of "battle", and then hoping it incapacitates them before they have a chance to point and shoot is a risk no sane person would take. You are hoping to hit a bone, which is a couple of inches wide, and even then if they are knocked off their feet they still have a gun in their hand.

The "cops" show proves beyond doubt many of the police are out of control without any recourse whatsoever,Blacks are tasered beaten cuffed yet the cops still scream "stop resisting"

They are dangerous and sadistic.

I saw X-Files and it proves beyond doubt that there are aliens.

I’m by no means convinced of this officer’s innocence but at the same time I don’t think the evidence is conclusive enough to convict, there is a reasonable doubt IMO. The focus should now be on preventing incidents like this, the Brown family have called for cameras in police body armour and I think this is a reasonable request. At a time when relations between the poorest crime stricken communities and authority are at an all time low, concessions should be made to show that officers are being monitored to assure they are not over zealous.

You clearly haven't seen the show then:hilarious::hilarious::hilarious:

You need to stop believing everything you see in movies, in real life if someone shoots you in the leg and your intention is to shoot random people you are going to think 'ok the police are trying to shoot me' and then start shooting back either at them or at innocent bystanders depending on what your motivations are. There have been shootouts in history where both FBI agents and the criminals have been shot multiple times yet were still standing and able to fire back, adrenaline is a powerful thing.

We are talking about a 12 year old child, the police were no more than 10 feet from the boy and they had their car as cover unlike the kid who was in the open.

Do you not think that all these kinds of shows are manipulated to show what the producers want us to see?!!!

Of course yet what we do see is quite chilling don't you think.

The producers don't want to show any decent kind behaviour from the cops because they wouldn't have any show.
