USA bad cops.

This kid was 12 wasn't he? I don't think there aren't many 12 year olds in this country who would still be playing with guns. At 12 he was old enough to understand the gun laws so therefore I firmly believe it was his fault.

Loads of 12 year olds use BB guns....There is no way blame can be attached to a 12 year old for having a toy gun!

Agreed,

Take Ferguson which had a 65% black majority with most of those on low wage or no job, they have very little and don't even think of sickness because they cannot afford any insurance.

I feel the brutality of law enforcement is there to control the blacks by using fear and intimidation.

They don't need to be able to afford insurance, people on low incomes or on welfare get Medicaid. These poor black folks get their abortions paid for by the US taxpayer. They get food stamps and they get free housing. They riot because they can and because people make excuses for them.

I live in a town that's 90% Hispanic and is not exactly Manhattan but they don't choose to kick my windows in every time a gangbanger gets shot by the GPD.

What hypocrisy? I do know better than mrsblue about what is going on in the US for two reasons. The first is that I live there and the second is that she's clearly a moron. I do feel qualified to comment about UK politics because I have lived there for most of my life and I still keep myself informed. I would hazard a wager that I know a damn sight more about it than you, but you're such a clever ******* because you're an atheist, right?

Me a moron NEVER !

Bet you wear crocodile boots don't you know:Worthy:

To be honest I have no problem with religion if it isn't used for hate, I just don't buy into it. I only made a comment about your good book being full of holes as you criticised Dawkins for having theories full of holes, there's that hypocrisy again. I don't claim to be cleverer than someone based on religion, I'm sure there are many Jews, hindus , Muslims and Christians that are intellectually superior to me and a fair few Buddhists too. I'm sure you do know more about it than me but it doesn't make you right, you obviously have issues with colour and approach the subject with a blinkered view devoid of any compassion.

You're kidding right? Plenty of 12 year olds have toy guns. What's worse is that their toy guns look more real.

Are you really saying a kid of 12 is at fault for being shot, just because he was carrying a toy gun? So much for the innocence of youth.

What about Jedis?

I'm not kidding, I've worked with plenty kids of around that age and I can tell you that very few of them would openly play with guns publicly! In the privacy of their bedroom or when playing a computer game, yes, absolutely but not in public!

Agreed.

The bloke who reported this lad even told the dispatcher he thought the gun was fake but sadly they never conveyed this to the officers who attended.

American law enforcement goes way over the top, using taser at their leisure is nothing more than the cops eating food, deadly force occurs far too much, beating people to a bloody mess is again normal over there.

The police there should all be issued with compulsory body cams which cannot be turned off.

It's not a toy guy, it's an airsoft gun. With the orange identifier taken off. Could you tell the difference between it and a real gun?

He was pointing it at passers by before the police turned up, as shown by the CCTV images shown today.

As I said earlier in the thread, if this had been a REAL gun and the police hadn't have taken the action they did, then they would have been criticised totally. They were in a no win situation, and were left with little alternative.

I didn't say in public. They still have toy guns. All it takes is one child to sneak one to school. As I said, the child simply can't be blamed for getting himself shot. The gun laws in the US are to blame.

Working with kids that age doesn't make you an expert. I used to be a kid of that age, and I can tell you that myself and plenty of my friends had toy guns, mostly spud guns. We also had access to air pistols and rifles.

To try and blame the child just deflects the argument away from the bigger issue.

No I couldn't. That's exactly my point. It's no surprise the police acted in the way they did given how twitchy they must be about school shootings. Because of the difference in gun laws, IMO, if that were this country the police would start from a different assumption, i.e. that the gun wasn't real.

Although just having watched a longer version of the video. The policeman just pulled up alongside and shot barely being out of the car with the boy 5 feet away. That could've been handled a lot better I feel.
