I am sure he would look at all options.

If he stays we might get the P-word and be a league higher but still here earning whatever.

If he goes to a club in the Championship now will they be in a relegation dog-fight later in this season ? He would earn a lot more but would he be happy ?

Nothing is simple.

That's not exactly news. It was mentioned on the transfers rumours thread. As I said, we have enquired after him. He's also cheaper than Morris.

Daniels is less than Morris? If that's true and not doubting you then I would be surprised. Morris is a good keeper but Daniels for me is another level.

When we were offering him that new contract towards the end of last season a load of rumours came out about interest from various clubs in higher division. It always seemed strange (but not impossible) to me that he elected to stay in L2 rather than move up a couple of divisions. Then you hear about the West Spam interest and now the latest rumours and it looks like his agent is trying to talk him up. I really wonder if last season there really was any interest or if he used the other clubs to gain a higher wage?

Agree Dave, when Morris joined us he was out of contract and we didn't have a pot to **** in (probably still haven't). I can't believe that Daniels, ok 3rd choice at WBA is on less than say 2k a week.

hey guys I may be blond, but as a football fan also that isnt wearing rose tinted glasses I would have thought that , that actually would be a step up??

I'd have to disagree, it would be a sideways move IMHO. And on top of that IF the new stadium is finally started in the next few months (after the huge delay that's something that isn't guaranteed!) this will be exciting times for this football club and we'll be a more attractive proposition for new signings.

They get 7000 to 7500 in the door.

They are bigger but not a massive step forward and would you want to relocate to the other side of the country for such a small increase in stature ?

When does his contract expire though? Is it at the end of the season or does he have another year at WBA?

In 2009 signed a 2 year deal with an option for another year, can't see anything of him signing another contract and the fact he is still a WBA player, they must have taken up the year option. So looks like his contract will end this summer.

Edit : Just seen this on the WBA website :

"Daniels, a product of the club's Academy, is now committed to the Baggies until 2012, with the club also having a further one-year's option."

At this moment in time thats true. The season we were relegated from Lg1 we averaged only a few hundred less and the season before averaged more. I'd say we are similar sized.

From my very limited knowledge of these things (based on conversations with my friend and agent Clive Hart) Premiership players don't earn any real money until the make the first team squad. (It's the promise of huge amounts of money that keep players there.) Daniels hasn't done that yet.

As an example, about 10 years ago there was an Arsenal player (that Clive managed) who was on less than most of the Southend Squad at the time. Then he broke into the first team. One time he was an unused sub for an away Champions League tie. Arsenal won. His win bonus (bearing in mind he didn't even play) was £10,000. Squad members who travelled and didn't make the squad were given £5,000.

Plus, it may make professional sense for him to join a club where he knows he will get lots of first team games. He may gamble on us going up the leagues which will raise his profile and experience, to the point that his next move may be to a top level club where he is straight in the first team. Long run - it would make sense for him to be playing regularly even at a lower level rather than languishing in the reserves at a higher club.
