Will still be SOME of his wages off the bill though, then we can let him go for good in the summer.

No wonder Ron martin sacked Billy Jennings. Paterson's over-inflated wage was his doing. In fact, the whole signing was largely down to him.

Yep, not an awful lot though I am told.

Still, its countdown time as you say.

Sturrock has won promotion from this division 5 times (?) playing exactly as we are now, get the ball forward quickly and pick off the scraps in and around the box, not pretty on the eye (I HATE IT !!!) and not working at the precise moment but he has been a manager an awful lot longer than ANYONE on this here forum so if he thinks it'll win through then who are we to argue ....

To be fair Lee his Plymouth side that romped this division a few years back were a pretty decent footballing side.

Dunno where you get the idea that none of us have won honours I've won the Premier League 8 times on CM.:raspberry:

Last season when Blackpool were interested we were saying £250,000 - £500,000 for Mohsni, now the echo says we want a six figure sum. It had better be the higher end.

He is one of the club's biggest assets.

If he played centre back more often in rotation with Barker & Phillips, who lets face it are both knackered and always carrying knocks, surely we would see a better Mohsni. With a higher transfer fee, if the club still wanted rid. Especially next to someone with the experience of Phillips/Barker, who would help keep him calm and focused. He has admitted to getting frustrated further forward, so give him the support he needs and play him at the back.

rant over

In what capacity? Seems like a big white elephant to me considering we can't play the guy without a 50/50 chance he'll get sent off or involved in some kind of punch up...guy is a liability and I lost my patience with him before his most recent misdemeanour.

Not if he plays in his proper role in defence. Even PS & Tara said the same earlier this season

Yes unfortunately.
Still, he leaves in the summer.

Nothing against the lad, but my god do we need him off the wage bill. And I expect he wants a move asap as well.

Obviously not as if he was that bothered he would take a wage cut. Maybe clubs might be interested if he dropped his wage demands. Just shows he is quite happy to do **** all or get loaned out to pony clubs and earn good money from us. The sooner he goes the better complete and utter waste of space!

OK folks, lets summarise:
  1. David Martin - awesome signing. I've seen him play and unless he's developed a drink / drugs problem, what the hell he's doing in league 2 I don't know.
  2. People who question where the money's coming from - perfectly valid. Some posts earlier have questioned why anyone cares. The reason is that 18 months ago we were going bust. Nothing fundamental has changed, so how the hell can we sign David Martin? In Ron, we don't trust.
  3. Neil Harris - hasn't set the world alight. But let's not forget that we were delighted with this signing and that he's a proven goalscorer throughout his career. As such, if he's not scoring, it's us not playing to his strengths.
  4. Bilel Mohsni - great player. But this one is down to PS. If, as rumoured, he's annoyed most of the coaches, and his team mates, he needs to go, and we move on. Take what you can get. If the situation is recoverable, he's a great player, and we do what we can to retain him. PS knows the true state of affairs. As such, his call.
  5. Offloading others. I like it when we're active in a transfer window, but to lose players we need other teams take them on. When only Forest Green Rovers seem to be in the market, that's not easy! Personally I've not written off Peter Gilbert yet - he's another that has succeeded elsewhere but seems to be struggling with us. I do think two from Sawyer, Grant, Ferdinand will leave though. Personally I'd take as much as we can get for Kane, and feel Grant is firmly an "underachiever" now and needs a move to re-ignite his career. Good player though.
Any questions?

Whilst I don't dispute Mohsni may be causing some friction and he officially has the worst disciplinary record this season (2 red & 9 yellow). Granty has 8 yellows with far less pitch time and Kane was hanging on by a thread within 5 minutes of coming on this week with 2 rash challenges. Bil has also scored 5 goals, played wherever asked & given the opposition a headache & when he has come off the bench the atmosphere in the ground rises with expectation. When I have looked at the bench recently I haven't seen the players that can give the lift.

The thing is go back to the Ronnie Whelan days. He busted a financial fortune on getting in the likes of Boere, Marsh, Byrne, Mcnally, Lapper, Rammell etc to attempt to get us in the Prem and it backfired spectacularly. You can argue we never really recovered from that episode thoroughly. As I said before I just hope Ron, Tara and Paul know what their doing in case promotion isn't achieved.
