I personally think we still need Harris. Blair is currently out of contract so that would leave us with just Dickinson and Benyon as recognised decent strikers. Yes we have other strikers on the books but Barry Corr is doubtful to play again this season and the others are toilet.

Why are people so quick to stick the knife into Harris. When we signed him people were delighted. I agree that he has been a little dissapointing, but i dont feel that we play to his strengths. I still 100% think he will come good and actually playing alongside the likes of Benyon and with the pace of martin and hall i think we will see a better end product. Does anyone actually think we play to his strengths lumping long balls that neither him or Liam win many. He needs it into feet and then let others feed off him, very much like the goat used to do.

Who is sticking the knife in?

All I said was he maybe on the managers list of "surplus" players?

I agree that we have not played to his strengths. And it's a real shame. But, I cannot see us changing our style. So can we afford to keep Neil on, if he does not fit into our style of play?

I would love us to change to a more passing side and perhaps bring the best out of him and others. But, I just cannot see us doing that unfortunately.

I fear Benyon may fall into the same trap as well. Let's hope not.

I hope that Harris, Benyon and Dicko prove to be the trio that fire us to League One.

Harris, Dicko and Benyon with Hall and Mohsni able to play up top too. Get rid of all the other strikers as they are complete gash to a man.

Yeah I do tend to agree that although I'd like a change of system I can't see it materialising.

Maybe that is exactly what PS is attempting to do with the new signings?

Benyon needs the ball on the floor, although on Monday he didn't seem to mind it in the air and won a few tussles. He looks a strong lad.

It's very easy to say get rid of strikers that are surplus to requirements, but get rid to whom? If there aren't any takers then they either stay put picking up their wages or the other alternative is that the club has to pay them off and cancel their contracts.

perhaps his deal was rushed through so that he could train with the team, in the knowledge that Leonard was out?

There's nothing like a bit of idle speculation! The deal wasn't rushed through. It's been on the cards for some time. PS even said so after we lost at home to Bradford. Moreover, he could train with the team even if a deal hadn't been completed.

All im saying is that people have been from day one having a go at Harris, when in reality ha hasnt done a lot wrong. I actually feel with two proper wingers, timlin, sawyer, grant who are all ball players, Harris and Benyon who create space there is no reason not to think our style wont change. People are forgetting that if things had worked out with JJ then we may have seen different style of play. We havnt had players out wide, hall exception, that can run clear with the ball at pace, so with the likes of moshni, leonard, grant etc playing out wide we have been more forced to lump it. For what its worth when Sawyer came on the other week against bradford we did put on the floor more and look better for it. I think with both hall and martin running the wings you will now see the ball out wide more and played through the midfield.

Sturrock has won promotion from this division 5 times (?) playing exactly as we are now, get the ball forward quickly and pick off the scraps in and around the box, not pretty on the eye (I HATE IT !!!) and not working at the precise moment but he has been a manager an awful lot longer than ANYONE on this here forum so if he thinks it'll win through then who are we to argue ....

I blame Harris the Donkey myself for all out shortfalls.:smiles:

If these signings are an intention of playing a bit more football along the ground then maybe Harris will start to be in his element. Still a good player IMO.
