Forwards are always the hardest to sign as anyone with any sort of record costs a fortune, and those that dont are a gamble, so in many cases a loan is a good option.

Being in League One will give us more choice now so hopefully we can get a couple of permanents in at least.

I've heard he's meeting with a potential striker today. Not going to say who because I don't know how accurate the source is, but at least it proves PB is looking at signing people.

I have also been told that rumours are that Leyton Orient expect Chris Dagnall to sign for us, although I can't see that anywhere on any of their message boards so I don't know how accurate that is either.

This striker is he working for Spanish ATC?:smile:

There's a difference to saying anyone decent signing, and making no signings. We will sign players, whether they are any good is another thing.

Every club wants to sign prolific strikers and whilst being in the league above makes us a more attractive proposition it will always be a challenge to find good forwards in our budget.

Really hope the Dagnall one isn't true. I think he's pony personally.

Chris Dagnall was quite prolific a few years ago at Rochdale and scored around 17 goals at Orient since he joined them in January 2014. At 29 he has got some useful experience and could in theory do well at Southend.

I've always liked Dagnall as a player. He's no Corr, but he'd be a decent replacement I think.

If we're raiding Orient then I'd take David Mooney. Like Dagnall he is out of contract and his goalscoring rate is better than it looks on Soccerbase because he got dumped on the bench for their £10k a week strikers last season.
