A Bit of Fun Transfer Rumours Thread (Potential New Signings)

To be fair, when I saw him play for Lincoln, he looked decent.

Also, Salford bought him and gave him a 2 and half year deal. They can go and buy anyone in league two with their money, they obviously saw something in him.

If true, Akinola, Murphy, Andrade and Rush is still better than what we had last year!
Fair point, certainly better than last years options after CK and SH bailed.
BUT I don't see Akinola as a strike partner in a 4 4 2;, more as a pseudo winger and advance midfielder with neat footwork, and let us hope he can get and stay fit. Useful substitute.

To be fair to Akinola, he got 14 goals in 32 appearances for an average Barnet team the last time he was in this division. If we were signing someone like that now, we would be more than happy.

Like a few players, I don't think we saw the best of him for a number of reasons last season. I think, under Brown, he could flourish.

Akinola isn't out and out number 9. Im guessing brown will play 442 formation...... with that in mind, I feel we need couple more strikers.

I am aiming dig at MM. admittedly ron handed him bad set of cards but some of those youngsters, ie kinali which sol campball used during few games in league 1. MM didn't hardly entertain any of them when it came to league games. Looks to me MM didn't bother to find out from youth coaches which of those youngsters did well under the previous regime.

MM had more than a good look at Eren. He was involved in the entire pre season programme playing as many minutes as anyone else. He came on against Gillingham, played a full game against West Ham and was a used sub again against Harrogate and Carlisle.

I don’t remember too many people having much good to say about anyone involved in those games at the time!!

Also, just because MM decided he wasn’t for him doesn’t make him a bad player or MM a bad judge or wrong. It just means that he personally didn’t see him in his plans at that time. That’s football. Ones mans meat is another mans poison. Doesn’t make one right and one wrong surely?

I’m pretty damn sure including or not including him had no bearing on relegation!

Never been to sure about Dieng and I suppose that sums up the question. Not the greatest of centre backs, and I would prefer, White, Hobson and Cordner or any other half decent gnarler at this level. In midfield , mostly unmemorable and as a temporary striker or forward occasionally of value
A jack of all trades can be very useful as Phil points out, but on the other hand maybe we need a couple of specialists better than Tim in any of those positions. So maybe he can obtain a league 2 club, but I wouldnt push the budget boat out beyond the first few steps, best wishes from me

I’d be happy with Bruno Andrade. I don’t think he’s an out and out forward though, more of a cut in from the wing type player.

He's exactly that type. Electric pace down either flank. He seemed to lose a bit of hunger for the game when he went to Salford....maybe due to his huge increase in salary. He's certainly capable of scoring goals though and maybe a move back down south will help him rediscover his best form.

According to Wiki, he played 26 games for Salford and scored 0 goals. Maybe that has something to do with it. There could be various reasons for this poor goal tally.

Before joining them he scored 11 in 59 for Lincoln and 32 in 84 for Boreham Wood.
We are signing players like him as he knew what Conference level is all about.

I hope Simeon was watching Morecambe's Mendes-Gomes score the penalty just now at Wembley. That's how to take a penalty, Simeon. Don't forget.

Despite your fixation (and you are not the only culprit ) with that one occasion when the keeper successfully guessed -Akinola’s intentions -it happens to all penalty-takers - you will find ,if you care to look, that he has an excellent record for penalty conversions. That is why he was and I’d imagine still will be,our designated penalty taker.

Akinola has never been a number 9 he loves to run with the ball and tends to be more effective playing wide. Also in his final season with Barnet in the NL he actually scored 15 goals and ironically 6 of those came from the penalty spot.

Murphy and Bridge sound pretty safe bets, whist Andrade sounds a long shot. He'd surely have to take a large cut in wages from what he's likely to be on at moneybags Salford?
That’s assuming that Jack Bridge doesn’t sign an extension to his current contract at Bromley. Obviously, they are one of six clubs that can still get promoted. Even if the don’t make it this season he may think that they have a better opportunity than us, next season.

Yes, his main position is left mid or left of front 3, which allows him to cut in to shoot on his right foot.

Surely if the keeper guessed what he was doing and stepped to his right it would’ve looked like the worst penalty at Wembley since Lineker v Brazil no?

ok the striker is Murphy from yeovil And ive noticed Jack Bridges contract exspires on the 30th of june this year .And he is the fav to be the midfield player . Only time will tell

Totally agree. I looked closely at the replay and the guy was only focusing on the ball, not the keeper, so had the keeper guessed right he would have smothered it. Freddy's penalty against Northampton in the play-off semi was almost identical.

Some penalties are unstoppable but a decent percentage of successful ones are savable if the keeper guesses right. Stuart Pearce said that his penalty in 1996 against Germany was poor but looked good because the keeper dived the wrong way.

I was the designated penalty taker for a couple of teams back in the day, and had a decent record, but for every penalty I slotted in the corner there were others that I didn't strike as well and were much nearer the centre and savable
