Yes mate, plenty of talks are on going but only the 2 have signed deals so far.
Thanks, Moley. That sounds encouraging. Hopefully, Southend can get a few more over the line shortly.

Fair point, certainly better than last years options after CK and SH bailed. To be fair, when I saw him play for Lincoln, he looked decent.
Also, Salford bought him and gave him a 2 and half year deal. They can go and buy anyone in league two with their money, they obviously saw something in him.
If true, Akinola, Murphy, Andrade and Rush is still better than what we had last year!

BUT I don't see Akinola as a strike partner in a 4 4 2;, more as a pseudo winger and advance midfielder with neat footwork, and let us hope he can get and stay fit. Useful substitute.
I am aiming dig at MM. admittedly ron handed him bad set of cards but some of those youngsters, ie kinali which sol campball used during few games in league 1. MM didn't hardly entertain any of them when it came to league games. Looks to me MM didn't bother to find out from youth coaches which of those youngsters did well under the previous regime.
I’d be happy with Bruno Andrade. I don’t think he’s an out and out forward though, more of a cut in from the wing type player.
We are signing players like him as he knew what Conference level is all about.According to Wiki, he played 26 games for Salford and scored 0 goals. Maybe that has something to do with it. There could be various reasons for this poor goal tally.
Before joining them he scored 11 in 59 for Lincoln and 32 in 84 for Boreham Wood.
Yes I am aware of that. I was answering another poster. I included his stats from NL level to support his NL credentials. We are signing players like him as he knew what Conference level is all about.
Akinola isn't out and out number 9. Im guessing brown will play 442 formation...... with that in mind, I feel we need couple more strikers.
Haha, wouldn't mind trading akinola for mendes-gomesI hope Simeon was watching Morecambe's Mendes-Gomes score the penalty just now at Wembley. That's how to take a penalty, Simeon. Don't forget.
Despite your fixation (and you are not the only culprit ) with that one occasion when the keeper successfully guessed -Akinola’s intentions -it happens to all penalty-takers - you will find ,if you care to look, that he has an excellent record for penalty conversions. That is why he was and I’d imagine still will be,our designated penalty taker.I hope Simeon was watching Morecambe's Mendes-Gomes score the penalty just now at Wembley. That's how to take a penalty, Simeon. Don't forget.
Akinola has never been a number 9 he loves to run with the ball and tends to be more effective playing wide. Also in his final season with Barnet in the NL he actually scored 15 goals and ironically 6 of those came from the penalty spot.Akinola isn't out and out number 9. That’s assuming that Jack Bridge doesn’t sign an extension to his current contract at Bromley. Obviously, they are one of six clubs that can still get promoted. Even if the don’t make it this season he may think that they have a better opportunity than us, next season.Murphy and Bridge sound pretty safe bets, whist Andrade sounds a long shot. He'd surely have to take a large cut in wages from what he's likely to be on at moneybags Salford?
Yes, his main position is left mid or left of front 3, which allows him to cut in to shoot on his right foot.Akinola has never been a number 9 he loves to run with the ball and tends to be more effective playing wide. Totally agree. I looked closely at the replay and the guy was only focusing on the ball, not the keeper, so had the keeper guessed right he would have smothered it. Freddy's penalty against Northampton in the play-off semi was almost identical.Surely if the keeper guessed what he was doing and stepped to his right it would’ve looked like the worst penalty at Wembley since Lineker v Brazil no?
