A Bit of Fun Transfer Rumours Thread (Potential New Signings)

Can’t help but feel the deal for Eyebrows is now a dead duck. I’m not sure we would’ve brought in Dennis and Kargbo if it were still a possibility. I reckon we were waiting on news about Eyebrows before deciding whether or not to sign Kargbo. Do we really need another striker when we have Murphy, Dalby, Dennis, Kargbo and Rush?

I think we’re two signings away from having a respectable squad, a centre back and a more attacking central midfielder. Unless Brown thinks Mitchell-Nelson is the man to fill our fourth centre back spot, then we need to get one more in. Dunne, Ogogo and Ferguson as central midfielders won’t offer much in the way of creativity, leaving just Phillips who seems to be behind those in the pecking order. I think we need one more CM who can push forward and get in amongst the goals.

Phillip's has had lots of pre season time so has PB seen something in him going forward? Agree the attacking options look sound and much improved, the creative attacking midfielder is my main area for improvement and a CB back up. Our budget should be intact and hopefully something left to spare during the season. Arnold has the most pressure going forward, hopefully it's all smoke and mirrors and I'm wrong to be concerned.

Am I the only one thinking that Akinde is a bit of a mercenary and I don't actually want him here after he did us over in January, and now is playing silly buggers again?
His best days are firmly behind him, sure he is experienced but he has been picking up niggly injuries left right and centre the last two years. I'd rather we just go with what we have. Rush is an able replacement at this level for Murphy and I think Karbo/Hightower - however its spelt - is an able replacement for Dalby. For me the area we are lacking badly is Keeper.

I thought Seaden looked good when he player last year but seems to have regressed in pre - season. Arnold - I have friends who are Shrews fans and they said he is alright but very prone to injury. We really should of pushed for Monty, did reasonably well for us on loan.

As long as we’re patient with him and don’t start getting on his back if he doesn’t deliver immediate results ….

For this reason, I was glad he only featured sporadically last season.

It’s obvious he has that natural talent that a striker needs & with a bit of luck he could certainly go far.

But last season, with the lack of creativity and that powderpuff midfield behind him, it may have proved to be a difficult time… and we know our fanbase can be unforgiving towards strikers who don’t score.

He’s got a clean slate this term, and whilst we’ve undoubtedly strengthened the front line,
I’d like to think there’s more than enough room for him to have an impact.

If he scores one or two early on, his confidence will boom and the sky’s the limit.

Managed correctly, we may just have a little gem on our hands.

You may be right, but I suspect the hope that we can get him over the line is another reason why Kargbo's loan is only month-to-month. Means we're not lumbered with him if we end up getting Eyebrows over the line. If Eyebrows doesn't sign then Kargbo's loan gets extended.

This is how I see it too. The monthly contract is insurance to make sure we have the numbers in place and don’t end up short up front, like last season. Seems to point at Kargbo being released if we get Eyebrows in

I see it this way too. I'm also sure that after our awful front line last year, fans can't really be turning their noses up at getting Akinde in (if it is him). Yeah we can talk about the finances but Ron has made it clear with the Ricky Holmes saga that he isn't needlessly splashing the cash.

If we could go into the season with Murphy, Akinde, Dalby and Rush, I'm sure most would be more than happy!

That's exactly how I see it too. I guess there maybe a case that Eyebrows current club are happy for him to leave once they have secured a suitable replacement. Therefore Eyebrows (I am looking forward to hearing our creative vocal fans chants involving Eyebrows every time he scores) may not be available until on or even after the EFL transfer deadline has passed.
I also wander if we have an agreement in place with QPR that we can borrow Kargbo any time throughout the season, to cover injuries etc, on a monthly basis. Hence Kargbo's reported comments at MTBD that he has signed for the season.
