A Bit of Fun Transfer Rumours Thread (Potential New Signings)

How should he word it?

I agree, but he has just been relegated and been put on the spot. The media coaching comes into it then. As you say, some fans believe word for word what these players say and take it as gospel.

But look at Anton’s piece in the Echo, very open and refreshing, but I bet if you looked through his post match interviews, tweets, whatever, it wouldn’t have read like that. Would have read like everyone else’s.

Thing is, we live in a world where fans want news 24/7 on their Club’s. We want signings yesterday, we want to know the ins and outs of a ducks arse. I posted an update Monday evening, and come Wednesday people are screaming to know more. Players, managers etc are always pushed for a quote, a story, a revelation.

PB is a lot better in talking to CP than MM was. PB will give hints and tips, like this striker who will raise eyebrows. He’ll update again on Holmes, he’ll provide information. MM wasn’t as forthcoming. That’s his choice. But people, who demand answers and information from PB, will then moan about us being “close to signing someone” then not hearing the next day he is through the door. People demand answers on the Holmes situation, PB has provided lots of updates, then people will moan there is loads of talk and not much action.

Players, and managers alike, simply can’t win. Damned if they do, damned if they don’t. Knowing how the situation has panned out with Elvis for example. How much will people moan if he’d be honest and said exactly what has played out?
Talking about the striker 'who will raise eyebrows'........is that still possible or is it dead in the water???

Agree re 24/7

I would say i do think at times PB is too open with the media, but he likes that side and it can have a good effect on the players when he is bigging them up, maybe when it is the other way to has the opposite affect.

Re Elvis, all he had to say is I hope to be here to help the cause, it then doesnt commit him and in someways outs the onus on the club as we all new he was out of contract, it is the media coaching and something agents should make sure players have, that one word there Hope would have made that sentence look completely different

being damned is the nature of that business, a manager alway knows he will be sacked somewhere at some time, a player always knows fans will be on his back at sometime or other. It is the business they are in, be that right or wrong, even more so for the players and managers who live their lives on social media

Unfortunately his agent refused to even negotiate a deal with us even though we wanted to. That should have been the plan B.

Hopefully the agent is currently paying Elvis out of his own pocket. We offered the £1 more as an opener as that ensured the compensation, but we were prepared to negotiate something.
I didn't know he had refused or that we were looking to negotiate, especially after Demi had been offered a contract.

I thought it was very much one or the other.

Elvis is so sorry the club got relegated .He cant be asked to come in for training . Thats a very strange way of showing your sorry .His statement said how sorry he is he and his fellow pro players the the fans down .So instead of turning up at the start of training .His agent told him he is to good for the club . So mr elvis where are you now sitting on your arse with no club at all . you are a fool young man .

All seems to be dragging on now re Dennis the qpr lad and eyebrow signing just one of them announced would cheer up fans I think
Think this forum really needs a FAQs thread from the mods. Same questions and points keep coming up.

The best guess @Tilson_Blues is that loans are for X amount of days, and we are (officially) leaving it as late as poss (prob the Friday before KL) to announce this and make it official so we get the most league time out of them.

By all accounts both are done deals.

What exactly would this FAQs thread look like @palexander and what purpose would it serve?

If they are loans then the period is a set amount of days, (seems strange as it is either a 6 month or year loan) but with that in mind my guess is the loans will be announced in the build up to the Kings Lynn game

Just common questions;

Q: Are we under an embargo?
A: No, confirmed by 'insiders' and Chris Phillips

Q: Where is Elvis
A: Not signing

Q: Why havent we signed Dennis / Kargbo yet?
A: Both are allegedly signed and club are waiting till last moment to register them

etc....
I think it’s a really good point. Some of us spend too much of our time on here and keep up with threads. Others have a life and to be faced with 100s of comments on multiple threads when they log on means sometimes they ask the same things that have been answered before. I like the idea of a ‘latest pearls of wisdom’ thread

Thanks, I'll float the idea with the other mods and see what they think.

Interesting isnt it as 20 loan deals have already gone through the NL since 1st July as this aspect takes off. This includes loans from Man Utd, Birmingham, Sheff Utd, Aston Villa, Peterborough, Watford, Fulham, Bristol City Sheff Wed, Bolton W, Harrogate etc, so not all from lower leagues

Solihull Motors have nabbed 3. Barnet are the big intakers with 10 players signed, only one loanee so far but 1 undisclosed fee. Notts County have had the money to fork out twice

Q.Is a player in his 30s too old to be signed?
A. Each is an individual person and specific needs, strengths and weaknesses.

Q. Should we sign more players under 25?
A. A balance is the best way ahead.

Q.Why are the burgers rank?
A. Cheap quality, no onions.

Q.Is Ron's hair real.
A. Yes, mostly his too.

I don't see this in the National League rules, but it may be lurking somewhere else. My suspicion is that because we have these deals already agreed & the players are with us anyway, we feel it's more urgent to work on our other incomings/outgoings/admin then do the paperwork for these after.

Someone posted it on this thread earlier I think, but to be fair th only one i think is most urgent is Dennis and from wha was said at the Brentford game that was done and would be announced later

It sounds like Akinde’s injury is not that serious, according to Evans (who is of course massively trustworthy!), he said it’s an ankle injury and was days, maybe a week.

It will never work. I have been giving my "latest pearls of wisdom' for years and no one takes any notice.

Thing is, he is hardly likely to say “You know what, this has been woeful for as long as I can remember now, I can’t even remember the last time I won a game, sod it I’m off to the highest bidder”.

When you listen to players interviews, you hear the same cliches, the same spiel, the same lines. We, as fans, read too much into these interviews. How often do players actually come out and say the truth? Like the Charlie Austin rant about VAR.

Just look at players Twitter accounts after games. I scrolled through Luton’s earlier to try and dig out more information of Sim’s match for Col Ewe’s 23s. They retweeted their players tweets. Almost identical.

Players get so much media coaching, you very rarely hear anything that is worth listening too.
It is my understanding that some players use a PR agency to handle their twitter and other social media accounts.
