Cox did post a throwback to his goal for us against Bradford on Instagram yesterday...
He was posting throw backs of a lot of goals for all of the different clubs he played for.

Did you get him to sign your shirt ?Just seen Mark Wright from Towie holding a scarf aloft outside Super Pizza.
No chance it’s Ranger. He got injured straight away last time as he hadn’t trained enough. We’re only 3 weeks from start of the season.Could be! Or ranger...... got to be 1 of the 2 I'd say.
What I don't like if true is the sort of message it sends out to other players and their agents - 'screw us around and we'll come back cap in hand a few months later'No knowledge on this. But a lot of boxes are ticked with Akinde. 32, proven goal scorer at NL level and higher, we were linked in Jan, different to what we have, will “raise eyebrows”, Tom Lawrence will know his financials and presumably has a good relationship with Scally at Gills etc. Only things I can’t get my head around and casts doubts, is how on earth we could afford his wages and his 11th hour rejection last time. Would be a brilliant capture, if a very surprising one if it was. Probably well wide of the mark here, but that’s what this thread is for!
Can completely see your point but us signing Akinde would be a huge signing at our level so I’d quite happily do it as a one off. What I don't like if true is the sort of message it sends out to other players and their agents - 'screw us around and we'll come back cap in hand a few months later'
Be interesting to see if big John akinde makes the gills squad today
Yea apparently did nothing… such a big player tho at our level balls in the box he will scoreHe played the first 60 minutes.
I say played.
He was there.
That’s all.
He’s clearly had enough.
No thanks.
Only if he can be bothered to wander into the box.Yea apparently did nothing… such a big player tho at our level balls in the box he will score
Quite easily, sufc offer to take him on season long loan where both clubs pay 50% of his wages..... whether gills would go for that sort of deal that's another question. No knowledge on this. Andy Carroll has got his coaching badges, could it be player coach role.
I agree probably not but he does want to go into coaching. But do think its akinde.
If we do get Akinde, I think Tom would have played a fair role in making it happen. He is most definitely a unit and one our opposition would fear.Interestingly, Andy Carroll lives in Essex and has clearly made a lot of money as a player so he would be pretty financially secure. At 32, Carroll might see a player coach role as the right step in his career at this stage. But whether he sees Southend as a good fit is another matter.
On balance, it would seem most likely that the player Brown is meeting is the one who played in Division 1 last season, namely, John Akinde. Maybe Tom Lawrence has smoothed things out between the Chairman and Akinde after the player's last minute U-turn in January? I also get the feeling that the Gillingham manager was not pleased by Akinde's last minute change of heart and it may have subsequently dawned on Akinde there is no future whatsoever for him at Gillingham under Steve Evans.
Maybe Brown rekindled his interest in Carroll 14 years on ?. Wouldn't surprise me with Brown! The guy would try and sign messi if he could ?Interestingly, Andy Carroll lives in Essex and has clearly made a lot of money as a player so he would be pretty financially secure.
