There have been some internet rumours about Marcus Dackers joining, and I have to say I don’t know anything about it… but I’d obviously love it to be true.

He genuinely seems to have enjoyed his time with the club, and we’re due some good news…

Still fishing, even though you claimed you didn't? Lovely stuff.
What are you waffling on about? What part of my post I was referring to, is "fishing"? I was trying to point the poster to the reasons why we can actually bring a player or two in, even under embargo.

We have 15 registered (16 allowed under embargo) players currently, assuming any further are not released/de-registered. Mooney could be another that we mutually agree on terminating.

So that free's up one, possibly two spaces for "non-contract" players to come in. I believe. There could be some confusion on whether any additions could actually be added on a contractual basis though.

Either way, we cannot go past 16 "registered" players currently.

So with both Ralph and bridge both unregistered and we only have space for one extra at present are we suggesting only one of the two can play Saturday and also that the dackers runour must be nonsense as we would need to clear another two out ? I’m assuming they will de register lomas if he is injured

Bridge and Ralph have been playing in the friendlies so the assumption is that they must be available, as otherwise they would not have been able to play in the friendlies either..

I have a feeling in my waters that some good news may come today. Not sure what, probably a new signing unless we’re planning a last minute ‘gotcha’ surprise for Oldham by only announcing a few changes on Saturday…

I think we have been very cute this year, playing most our friendlies behind closed doors means we can’t be scouted by the opposition ! Martin is a genius! 😂

It’s one space remaining after Ralph and Bridge.

We currently have 13 under contract (Collin, Gus, Taylor, Kensdale, Lomas, Miley, Husin, Fonguck, Coker, Mooney, Cardwell, Powell, Wood) with Ralph and Bridge presumed registered on a non-contract basis. That leaves one squad space, likely for Demi.

If Dackers happens I think that will be to replace Mooney.

You’re quite possibly right, although I’m not sure Demi would be seen as a priority over another keeper?

I’d reckon Dackers (if that comes to pass) and a keeper are the two top priorities with JD on hand on the coaching staff to be registered to play if there’s an injury to Gus.

With all this speculation about incoming players, I just wonder under what terms we will be able to work within the transfer market. Obviously, while the embargo is in place the restrictions we face are well documented.

However, if and when the embargo is lifted, how do we operate then ? I can't imagine that the players we want and need are all free agents. Most likely they will be under contract at their current Clubs. Consequently, does that not mean we may have to pay a transfer fee ? If so do we have the means to do that ? Perhaps the short term solution will be loanees.

The Club has no option. Expenditure must not exceed Income, otherwise the hole we are in will just get deeper and before you know it another Embargo.
