Unfortunately not. That ship has sailed.

We'd agreed a fee of around £2.5k and a sell-on with Hitchin. Player agreed terms, photos taken holding the infamous scarf and all media done before the club pulled the plug because of an old shoulder injury that flagged up in the medical from a few seasons prior.

Got to feel for the young lad - turned down a couple of National League and National League North/South clubs at the time thinking he would be coming here, which meant he finished the season with Hitchin. That said, he'll certainly not be short of offers this summer. Scored 15 goals last season from a number 10 position in midfield.

Let's just hope this one doesn't come back to bite us...
2.5k? Had no idea transfer fees were that tiny, seems almost embarrasing.

Battle of the ex-SUFC keepers in the FA Trophy final which has gone to penalties. James Montgomery has saved one and Nick Hayes has saved two. If Collin was to go, Hayes would be a great replacement.

Make that three penalty saves from Hayes, but still on the wrong end of the result. He looks like an absolute giant between the sticks.

Isn’t it obvious?

It isn’t a great look to be signing players when we have an outstanding WUP in play, and an “owner” who can’t afford to pay it, and the consortium who are refusing to pay it.

I thought from the usual "in the know" the story was "business as usual" with the signings etc

We are acting as normal. We’ve been out to watch players, Kev was at England C and we had people at the National League South play-off final at the same time. Kev was at Wembley today as well. We are speaking to players and their representatives/families etc. I don’t know if we have, but we can verbally agree deals, or even have people put pen to paper and not announce it just yet.

There is nothing “official” stopping us from signing players as in an embargo, and we may not have actually agreed terms with anyone yet, but I would expect any announcements until things have been cleared up in court.

I’m imagining we will get an adjournment for 2/3/4 weeks whatever, and things rumble on a bit. Productive talks have taken place between RM & the consortium, so we have moved on from the start of the week, and the council’s DD has progressed too.

I assume you also follow a prem side? Haha

This is a fairly standard transfer fee at this level.

Not many sides below the NLS/N sides will be getting offered 5 figure deals for players.
Lol nope, only follow the mighty shrimpers, a lifer.

I guess i just see at as a sign of how low we've fallen, coupled with the absolute ridiculousness of modern football, the consortium have thrown 3.5 million in to keep the club going yet the players cost as much as a 12 year old vauxhall corsa

Yeah it is mad!

Which is like Man United thinking Southend going bust over £20m is embarrassing because it's the sort of money they can burn on a youth team player who may or may not make the grade.

That £2.5k might pay Hitchin's electricity bill for the next 6 months or buy them a new lawnmower, or pay off the money they owe to the coach company that takes them to away games. At their level of the game, £2.5k isn't to be scoffed at.

That’s what is wrong with football, that Prem money is never filtered down to the clubs who really need it.

Every effort should be made to keeps Cards. I just hope the players are being updated on sale progress otherwise a few might jump ship.. good news is it seems like he is still in Southend! (Saw him on the seafront yesterday)
