Why wouldn't Kev consider Gills? If his budget is to be cut with us next season we certainly wont be signing some of the stars suggested on this thread. Or released Wrexham players while we are at it.

Has more of a chance of promotion with a decent budget at Gills than he will with us. Promotion to L1 would open the door to one of the bigger boys in the L1 or even a Championship club

As for loyalty.......In the modern world your only 3 loses away from some fans wanting you gone. Just a few months ago it happened on here. The Cowleys took their opportunities and are now in much more secure financial position than Kev.
Some things matter more to some people than money, and Kev seems to be of that persuasion luckily for our football club. Ron could learn a lesson from some of those he ‘pays’ but he sees money as more valuable than people and common decency, and he’s not alone in that sadly.

It's a lot easier to pay your mortgage with money than loyalty.

I’m sure under the consortium’s new contract he’s doing just fine money wise at a club he loves and is actually being paid. Let’s not pretend he’s on minimum wage struggling to make ends meet. He’ll finish the job he’s started if deal goes through safely and then move for a handsome payday when he’s ready.

Your focusing to much on the money. Kev has football ambitions and rightly so.

Worthing teenager Bradley Dolaghan scored 90 goals in the youth and academy teams last season.
This year has played 10 games in first team scoring 7 times. Have a look at this lads stats- very impressive. I hope Kev and co know about him and have had a look at him. COYB UTB

You’ll be hard pressed to find someone who Kev & co isn’t aware of.

We probably only need 3/4 signings if there isn't any outgoings to challenge for promotion. I'm not expert in national league football as it isn't league I particularly follow religiously but looking at the clubs in this league it looks very weak league. The fact Southend would of finished in the play-offs if we didn't have -10 deduction gives me the indication that if we get our house in order and sign 3/4 players to bolster the squad we can mount a promotion push.

Which he feels, and rightly, that this side can achieve the first of those ambitions given how well they’ve performed in horrendous circumstances and he’ll give himself and them this coming season to do it. If he’s going to be successful in these fledgling managerial years he will do it here IMO.

Anthony Hartigan released by Mansfield, did well for Barnet on loan. Would be a great signing, I assume he will likely be off to Barnet or someone in L2

Wrexham have released some good players this week. Probably now have inflated wage expectations though.

The League only looks potentially weaker because Wrexham, Notts County and Chesterfield have departed since we were relegated. The League will still be very competitive, plus greater expectations bring pressure. Provided we can start the new season on a level playing field we will do well. We will still lose games that we are expected to win, teams will raise their game against us, but all in all we won't be far away.

Remember it not just the playing side that needs attention, there are many other priorities. Fortunately the team isn't far away from what is needed.

i agree, the off field issues is holding us back from having a real go at getting out of this league.

There wage after their contract, until they pick something up will be £0. If they want Wrexham money it will stay that way. They are back in the mix with all the other players now

Not a shock to read this (if true).

It was way more of a shock when it was suggested to me a few weeks back that we were not seriously looking at him.

We'd have been absolutely insane not to be.

Lots of people saw him properly for the first time on TV yesterday, where he played a blinder. I've been actively seeking out his goals and highlights all season, and he is something else. A potential Langstaff repeat, if he were 2 or 3 years younger.

40+ goals this season, and 25-ish in each of the two seasons before, so definitely not a flash in the pan either.
