Unfortunately as yet it must be very difficult to develop players as Kevin would wish. We desperately need to be able to operate a "B" team or similar, would help with players recovering from injury as well.Disappointing as there’s always a bit more excitement around these potential rough diamond, unknown quantity types of players. But he’s 23 I think, which means he needs to be at a certain level as it’s likely the majority of his main development years are behind him.
If we’ve got him in for training and he looks no better than, or not as good as, the likes of Bonne, Waldron, Walker etc. then I feel like it makes little sense doing the deal. If he was 18 or 19 it would maybe be different.
Yes, would say that probably currently impacts our transfer targets both from the club and player perspective.Unfortunately as yet it must be very difficult to develop players as Kevin would wish. I don't really do football (other than watching southend) anymore, are B teams common in the national league? Do barnet have a B team for example.Yes, would say that probably currently impacts our transfer targets both from the club and player perspective.
Was very hopeful we were in the mix for this but I would assume, with Hopper coming in, we are not.View attachment 35407
Someone who agreed to sign for us TWICE could be on the move again, but not to Morecambe.
Real shame because Hopper and Dallas together would be streets ahead of what we have. Was very hopeful we were in the mix for this but I would assume, with Hopper coming in, we are not.
Would be good to have a B team but I would have thought the coaching staff could arrange behind closed doors friendlies with other local clubs. We could field a mixture of first team squad players with some youth players or even trialists. It would give valuable game time to players like Waldron.Unfortunately as yet it must be very difficult to develop players as Kevin would wish. I think we do this. But if we want to bring in lower league rough diamonds not yet ready for the first team their development needs to include regular match time. So we should be expecting much to happen in this area until we get back in the EFL. The reality. Its also why so many of these guys ens up at EFL clubs who have somewhere to develop them.Would be good to have a B team but I would have thought the coaching staff could arrange behind closed doors friendlies with other local clubs. He’s had what 4 moves since we were in for him? None has particularly worked out for him for whatever reason.Real shame because Hopper and Dallas together would be streets ahead of what we have.
Can't see it though. He won't go from a league 2 move to a 14th in NL club. He'll get another league 2 move I reckon.
They have an Academy up to U19 levelI don't really do football (other than watching southend) anymore, are B teams common in the national league? Do barnet have a B team for example.
Nope, not odd at all. Just sensible. Is odd we always delay it, don’t you think? Annoying. By the time they get round to it you’re like ‘yeah I know, next?’. Brings exasperation I think. If we know the opposition will already know. All rather baffling.
Seemed quite ready when he put a couple past us a few weeks back.........!Think Hopper is pretty much a done deal, but I don't think the Brentwood lad will be coming - I think they've had a good look and decided he's not ready.
They must do. It's far easier to read the comments on here detailing what's wrong with our team, where we're vulnerable, our trouble defending corners etc than to spend hours watching videos of our games or coming to attend our matches in advance of playing us.Do you really think the opposition read SZ?
Hahaha don't be a fool. Clubs don't pay scouting teams to go on fan forums to read opinions of let's face it <95% totally clueless peopleThey must do. No I don’t but I think they know people on the industry, agents, managers, players, like our ITKs do. Football isn’t a closed shop. Why sensible? If it’s so sensible why isn’t every club waiting four days after the ink dries?Nope, not odd at all. Just sensible.

You can laugh but I think the assessments of Moncur, Bonne and Hopper by opposing fans who watch the team week in week out are as accurate as anything a scout comes up with. It was always Danny Bakers argument that if you were interested in signing a player you should go in the players fans local pub before the game and ask around. Now we have social media I think a fans forum will give you a pretty good idea. There are idiots but you can soon flush them out or they are overwhelmed by popular opinion. Spend a couple of hours on here reading post match threads and player ratings would be very useful before making a signing of one of our players.Hahaha don't be a fool. I never saw the Luton fans assessment of Pepple so not sure on that one. They would have been making an assessment as a Championship player.Sounds good in theory until you realise not one set of fans rated Pepple before he came here
