Transfer News, Gossip & Speculation Transfer Rumours Etc part 2.....2024/25

Transfer news
Has Hopper got greedy or is he waiting to see if a club can come in for him in the EFL. If we was an EFL club I'd imagine he would have signed.

Sometimes it's about stigma. Drop down to National League and you won't come back to the EFL possibly goes through peoples heads.

The situation with Hopper, if correct, e.g. deal agreed and then goes back and asks for more cash, is very common outside football. I've known people to use offers to get pay rise at their existing companies, accept jobs and not turn up on first day as they got a subsequent offer and accepted that as well, ask for more money after agreeing etc.

Imho it's only shady if he hasn't actually got a better offer elsewhere. If he's genuinely got a better offer elsewhere then I see no issues with him coming back to us to see if we can improve our offer. It happens.

Rutherford for Dagenham was brilliant today but weren’t we in for him in the summer?
The first bit - agreed, Daggers’ left back Rutherford was excellent today. The second bit is wrong though as far as I know, that was Alfie Rutherford of Dorking a couple of years back (?)

Regarding Hopper, I'm not sure why people are so upset, it's a job negotiation.

He's obviously going to try and get as much as he can, we've all done it, for my current role it went on over about a week and I ended up with more money and better all round benefits.

This is someone's Job, don't expect them to act like fans
Exactly.

As a contractor I've had the same. In fact there was one occasion where it took until 3 months into a 6 month contract for me to finally sign it.

Things happen for a reason, he won't be the same player that left us 5 years ago, his record hasn't been great since leaving and he'll be 32 this year so it's a downward slope.

I'm hoping Bonne will fit that type of forward and we recruit someone with pace, high press and something to prove

Exactly. We forget these are human beings and not merely commodities.

I am going to put this on the transfer thread, you'll see why.

Post match from a Daggers itk.

Apparently their new Sporting Director, sacked a data analyst, to recruit staff from AFC Totton for them, which is near to where he lives.

Jack Wilson is the Data Analyst let go, who joined us last week. A helping hand in why we ripped them a new one yesterday perhaps?

So hopper wants more money..... your not worth it mate, your goal record and your age doesn't warrant it. I think we should move onto another target even a youngster on loan from championship club wouldn't be to sad.
How do you know? I’d presume as a starting point you know how much he was offered and the average wage for 31 year old forwards who have spent their careers in the league?

I don't know how much he was offered but going by the rumours on here he originally accepted a deal then got greedy. As I previously said his goal scoring record isn't great and doesn't warrant us bowing down to his demands. Not like we are signing will grigg who similar age and has proven goal scoring record in the efl. Also not keen on going back to players who we had previously from 5 years ago, never tends to work out.
