Transfer News, Gossip & Speculation Transfer Rumours Etc part 2.....2024/25

Transfer news
Needs to be better regulation and tracking around agents, this happens all too often no matter what you league you are in.

Always causing issues to benefits themselves.
Agreed these guys are only interested in themselves Tom might miss out on a ideal move for him, just because an agent can make more money elsewhere, not Barry Fry is it:Smile:

Do you reckon Goodliffe is part of the plans or maybe this is a loan with a view to a permanent?
I wondered this too. On paper he very much fits the profile of the type of player we’ve been going for. I wondered if he might have originally been one of the names on the whiteboard before the football league came knocking.

The player ultimately decides- the agent often takes the blame as it’s part of what they get paid to do.
Yes but a lot of these players follow what their agents say, instead of making their own minds up, it may happen as yet it will depend on how keen Tom is to come to you and if Southend still want him, there will be a compromise of some sort in the end.

You did add that he would be in the squad tomorrow but I guess at that stage everyone apart from his agent was sure of that!
Yes, and I think we genuinely thought he would be. My guess is that his agent asked Cowley to talk about the ‘tons of interest’ to help drive up wage demands, and seeing an opportunity to **** with Southend, he gladly did.

Who knows, we signed him on the 28/06 and at the time DC said this “Colchester boss Danny Cowley said: “We first came to learn about Ben when he was at Boreham Wood. We looked at him when we were at Portsmouth, and I know that Peterborough put a significant transfer offer into him this time last year.”

I don’t think Danny would do that as it was he who was trying to get Tom a transfer to Southend because he knew that would be a good move for him given his location.

I would have liked to have had Hopper on loan but i Guess that wasnt the plan as you would think issues around his salary on a loan deal could have been more easily negotiated between the 2 clubs especially if a bit of cost sharing involved

So presumably more likely a Permanent given his contract expiring in June, Did anyone see the contract terms in the article that said he signed before it was taken down ? by the club

Would it have been a year with an Option. Toms got to think about his family and career. Hope he makes a wise choice

As climate change rages on he could be growing oranges , bananas and grapes on the Essex Riviera. Worth thinking about

I wonder if Jack Wood will get transferred out now or another loan out opportunity. Seems very unlikely he will make the bench and must be desperate to have something sorted and get to play more regularly at a competitive level to stand a chance of developing his career. I think Kev said we will have to kind of take a look and re-assess but not heard anything on that front yet

Maybe he wanted to wait a bit as well on the latest recruitment efforts before finalising a view

Counting him in with Goodliffe we have actually risen to a squad of 21
