Transfer News, Gossip & Speculation Transfer Rumours Etc part 2.....2024/25

Transfer news
There’s a whiff of pantie again when perhaps this is a bit premature. The truth of Tom Hopper signing / not signing will out in due course - knowing our luck he stubbed his toe boarding the coach and will now be out 6 weeks.

@Colchester and proud! What’s the story? Is he decent but on his way back from injury, or just can’t get the side?
We have had a lot of changes in his position and he seems the one currently out of favour, he has another season after this to go unless he leaves early. We had Aaron Donnelly arrive in late August who played every game,an outstanding young player who was called back to Forest in Jan and sold to Dundee on a 3.5 year deal. Tom Flanagan is very experienced and also captain so unlikely to be dropped. Kelleher is very decent but injury prone, he has been playing very well lately and seems to be 1st choice to partner Flanagan at present. However this week we signed another guy on loan from MK who has fallen out of favour who the Cowleys rate highly. We then have young Frankie Terry who is also a central defender so despite losing Aaron we have plenty of cover. I think the guy from MK is probably on trial here with a view to possibly signing him outright in the summer. This means poor old Goodliffe is going to struggle for games, so he is coming there to get game time and help you guys out at the same time. He is big, strong, and fearless with an eye for goal, he has scored 4 this season-already!

Makes sense! Thanks mate

How has he scored 4 in 14 appearances for Colchester from defence? Get him up front!
He loves a header! When he was younger he was a centre forward but then converted to a central defender, probably due to his lack of pace to some degree. Get him in the box for your corners he is a bloody menace to the opposition.Check out the 1st two goals

How likely is it that either Goodliffe or Golding will be available for transfer in the summer? Is this us checking them out - or just filling gaps - although that's now 6 CB's we have.

this is unacceptable we was told it was done. I wish we had ambitious owners.
no, there were internet rumours that it was done. don't believe internet rumours. it's not done until there's a picture on the site holding a scarf. we have no idea what's gone on behind the scenes with this. we might have very ambitious owners, but ones with finite money

Is it ok to ask on here why we have brought another centre back in on loan when it is one of the few places we don't really need to add bodies?
I'd say it's probably because despite the number of bodies, we still need quality there (and think Crowther is out for a while).

I'd also highlight it doesn't mean we're not trying to strengthen other positions too, just that this was the signing that got across the line first.
