Transfer Embargo, Winding Up Petition & Staff Salary Issues

Who would we rather be in debt to? Him or Ken Bates/Robert Maxwell? Now there's a question!

We were in debt to Ken Bates, which is why we had the badge change featuring the lion in the 90s. He helped bail Vic out and interest free too, as he couldn't get involved in 2 league clubs at the same time, as he was chairman at Chelsea at the time.

So one of your examples, we actually should be grateful to.

Sadly, I think you are right. Once Fossetts Farm and Roots Hall has been milked for all its worth, the club becomes a sink without a plug hole. No amount of liquid gold poured into the sink will stick around.
The club is only attractive with the land sites that Ron holds. How many offers have we had to take on the club alone without FF and RH being part of a deal?

with a minimum fan base of 5k in an area/region with a significant population and embedded football culture SUFC should and could be thriving ...

if we were Boreham Wood or Woking or Wealdstone I could understand the negativity - this is a football league club with a100 year history ..

the only reason the club is in the National League is because the chairman
is incompetent ...

it is a pot of absolute gold ...

Yeah I know, that was the (poorly worded) joke/connection that I was trying to make. Could Redknapp be our next Ken Bates? Would we want him to be!?

This is such a killer, we’ve all probably been somewhat guilty of hoping this **** wouldn’t happen again but when we struggle to pay even the basic of wages you have to ask serious questions.

Thing is even if RM does pull another Rabbit out the hat next month, how long until we are up in front of the old beak again. HMRC don’t give a toss about Southend United as its just another business in the **** and why should it receive any special treatment.

Sole destroying 😢

**** Harry Redknapp. Keep that ******* **** ******** away from my club. I think I've made myself somewhat clear from my viewpoint 😂

My girlfriend asked me the other day if I wanted to go to his Q&A at the Cliffs, as I'm generally an enjoyer of all things football. My look in return told her all she needed to know.

Why would anyone pay Ron off to take control of a loss making football club and a property development project that appears to have been blighted with setbacks and delays for well over a decade?
Most clubs outside of the Premier League lose money. The reason we are losing so much though is because of Ron’s complete mismanagement.

Imagine what he has spent on legal fees for the new stadium and fighting HMRC on a constant basis for unpaid taxes, it must be into the millions by now. All of which are no doubt invoiced and paid for by the club in some way or another.

Plenty of clubs in the lower divisions run efficiently on half our crowds so with the right owner and our catchment area i’m sure there are investors out there that would think SUFC could be something really special one day and they want to be the ones responsible for turning our club into the next Bournemouth.

Tax bill settled

Oh, this is from 2010.

The chairman, Ron Martin, told the Southend Echo that he felt their financial troubles were now behind the League One club.

"I'm really positive about the future of the club," Martin said. "When people look back on this in the future they will say this is just a blip. The world has been in financial turmoil and I'm not immune to it."

Complete and utter prick. Hope he gets pelted with eggs at the Cliff. Sadly audience will be full of plastic cockneys.

But in reality, there are very few clubs (single figures?) top to bottom that turn a profit. At least thats what I thought? Would be delighted to be proved wrong with some examples. That would put my mind at rest that we wouldn't need someone as financially deluded as kwasi kwarteng to take us on. Maybe a pot of fools gold?

"But Martin will cut down the budget when Blues are back in League Two next season.

"I shall temper it if we go into League Two and have a more manageable budget," said Martin.

We are tired of it all, I just get on with supporting the players and the club, until the end.

If there was an alternative options of someone wanted to buy the club, I would back it & force RM out, but there is none but an cheap talk on Shrimperzone zone. Get your money out or shut up.

or even better National League .. even more manageable

of course after relegation from Lge1 there were some rather groovy player sales to process ..

We had the coteries of "MM is the future" posters ..

Missed wages, not paying loan fees, etc. started even further back in 2008. 14 years this **** has been going on.

In other countries, you get ‘b’, ‘c’ and associate teams. Just thinking.. if you had to make a decision, would it be:
A) club stays independent and potentially fold and be no more

Or

B) become funded by a premiership team, stay in existence (name stays) potentially feeder team, automatic opportunity for top reserves gaining match time/fitness, stadium improvements funded, ladies football/youth football

I'd rather SUFC folded than become some other club's plaything.
