Ryan Hall
William Watt [!]8207;@WillWatt
Ryan Hall from Southend almost signed, deal arranged at 10:55pm, couldn't get it done in time.

What a shame :winking:

I hope ryan understands that the club did not stand in his way and he still has to continue to give his all for club who are paying his wages.

I very much doubt that any club would budget for the coming season and include player sales which have yet to happen as that would be crazy.

We have just received 200k supposedly upfront for Kane in a deal which could rise to 500k so we do have money in the bank.

We turned down 150k from the hammers for bilel (crazy) so we cant be that skint.

We dont have players on huge wages anymore , but im guessing we are in the top 6 for budget in the division , but we are also in the top 6 for attendances and certainly in the top 6 for ticket prices at £21 on a matchday.

It puts in to significance what an achievement it is for the likes of accrington who average 1500-2000 odd at home to compete and stay affloat.

League 2 sure is a crazy league

No we didnt, its spread over 3 years.

We turned down 150k for Mohsni because we wanted more, now we have nothing.

As for budgeting over the season we have already been under embargo, havent paid club staff, couldnt pay the coach firm or accountants.

We have serious cash flow problems at the moment and it was vital to sell players today. Whether the 65k we got for Kane is enough time will tell.

All the more reason for Hall to come back and work his arse off so we can flog him for possibly more money in january.

I would like to see benyon go out on loan to get him of the wage bill

His value ( Hall's) is more likely to fall because he'd only have 4 months left on his contract. Teams won't pay over the odds for a player who has a contract that close to expiring. Different kettle of fish if he had a year and a half to go. West Ham an example won't pay over the odds because of the same reason with Bilel. What didn't help was Sturrock saying he doesn't want him back which devalued still further. You could claim a similar thing on Hall as Blues agreed to Blackpool signing him. They wanted him, Blues allowed to go there and player (Hall) wants to go there so might just still end up there soon.

Precisely. It's not Southends fault Blackpool left it to 30 mins before the deadline to make an offer (which was accepted). And it's not Southend fault that Hall and Blackpool could not agree terms quickly enough. I am sure the same point will be made to the player. Also if we were accepting the 250k it also shows how utterly derisory the Posh offer must have been as we were far apart on. valuation.

As for giving Hall a hard time it almost defies belief. What's he done wrong?

He hasn't done anything wrong. He wants to better himself and came within a hares breath of sealing a move to the Championship on a lot more money than he is getting here. After his season last time round I think he merits that. I'm puzzled Blackpool didn't make their move earlier in the day but they didn't but the fact is they were willing to sign him, We agreed to the player going there and the player wished to go there so the fact it wasn't done because of running out of time I would imagine will deflate him. Not convinced in Jan his value will be what it is now as I alluded to above I think it will only lower because teams will know give it a further few months on from jan and they'll pick him up on a free. The Mohsni case is an example. We should have accepted their offer but we wanted more but weren't going to get it because of so little time left on his contract.

I know what I'd be thinking if I was Ryan Hall, I'd be asking why they didn't want me a few months or at least a few days ago. Why wait until 10.30? Am I your second best? Never understand waiting until 10.30 to decide someone's good enough.

Blackpool should have moved sooner but the fact is, even though it was drawn up a fraction too late, Hall had that chance. He agreed to it as did Blues but against the clock.

He got this chance by being one of the best players in League Two.

If he continues to be one of the best players in League Two he'll get another chance. That'll be Paul Sturrock's message to him I'm sure. Wouldn't surprise me at all to see him in the team tomorrow afternoon.

Blackpool won't have decided only at 10.30pm that he was good enough for them, they were just playing the game of leaving it late as they knew the selling club were desperate for cash and would probably take any reasonable offer made. It's just that this time, the risky strategy didn't pay off because they were timed out. Plus they had two other players they have signed that were taking up their time. Look at what Darren Ferguson said about Kane - he said he made the decision to sign him when he saw him play in the Capital One Cup, yet only made a move just over 24 hours before the deadline.

If I was offered a job and had a feeling that maybe I wasn't their first choice, I would still take it because they would still be showing that they believed enough in me to offer me the job and I would be keen to prove to them that they were right to take me on.

Possibly. But after the long hard day yesteday I think Hall won't be in right frame of mind. Bench at best I'd say but would not surprise me if he's not in the18 at all. TBH think he'll won't quite be the player we know he can be if he stays.

Has anybody actually thought that Ryan Hall turned down a move to Blackpool. It wasn't Blackpool who turned down him, they wanted him, their offer wasn't good enough! If Hall really wanted to leave he would have ripped their arm off at any offer!

Instead he decided to stick here for Atleast until January, where I'm sure he will fight his way back in to the team.

He's a class act.

All this **** about getting rid of "we must get rid of him now", is a load of garbage!

Might aswell get rid of every single one of our players, because agents are constantly on the look out for a move!

None of them really want to be here. But they are, so you get begin them. Harsh truth.

Dave, your enthusiasm is great. But if you think Hall turned them down, then you my man need your head testing!!

Should have accepted the offer quicker then. It's all assumptions!

5K yes please. Sign here and here.

Thanks.

Didn't happen though, so he's our player and I expect him to play. You have to forget it, at this level we just forget this kind of thing to a certain extent. If he comes out and says I want to do well for Southend and he is back to his best, I don't care.

I want to leave my job for an extra few grand a week.

Point is, he hasn't left!

Didnt someone report that he couldn't agree terms with them, therefore he dud turn them down. He probably would want a decent wage to move his family up north etc
