Apparently the deal fell through because Blackpool and Ryan could not agree personal terms, Blackpool offered Ryan some Candy Floss and a large stick of Blackpool rock, but Ryan was holding out for some money to be paid on time for a change.:winking:

Going to have to wait till he is on the team sheet tomorrow before I believe it, but if he is still a Southend player, I just hope he plays the best football he ever has for the next few months!

He will have got the taste for Championship football getting that close to going there.. so hopefully he has something to play for!

There's no way on earth he'll be in the team tomorrow, his head will be all over the place now he's missed the deadline.

3 months max I believe. I reckon he'll go on loan too. View to a permanent.

Am I the only one worried about the financial aspect of this? If he goes on loan until January to get around missing the deadline then is there any restriction on when we can receive the fee? Cos if there is and we can't receive it til January then the worst case scenario has happened tonight. :stunned:

I wouldn't worry too much about us not signing anyone, we can still sign free agents or players on loan and let's face it that's the only way we can sign players anyway! Not the end of our transfer activity.

We do need money now, but we will also need it in January.

The worst case scenario is he goes in May for nothing....

Depends How he feels about it. If it was purely down to running out of time then I'd feel inclined to think he'd be furious and frustrated. In which case if his heart is not in it at Roots Hall thinking of what might have been then Jam's idea may be one thats need exploring.i,e the loan option with a view to a permanent move in Jan. No point keeping someone who'll be a shadow of what we know he is capable off.

Not necessarily the end of the world if the fee was going to be broken up in the same way as Ferdinand's, as its only a 'small' payment being delayed.

If he does go out on loan, I'd imagine we'd ask for part of the fee then, with a commitment to sign him for £x in January. All speculation though, of course...

Actually the more I think about it the more this loan option seems reluctantly the best solution. For if his performances are iffy with us in the near future then we're not going to get a lot for him in Jan. So loan now with a pre-fee agreed knowing it is safe for Blues to collect the money in Jan with no risk of the figure plummeting.

Whatever the reason for it failing, he needs to leave asap now. He obviously wants to better himself and doesn't want to be here. No issue with that and good luck to him. Cash in while we can. Although it wont be much in January now.

But the point is we won't receive a penny now until at least January, I guess we're about to find out just how important that money was to keep us out of serious trouble. If this failed deal puts us in danger of administration it's an absolute disaster, there are certain people in the know on here who are seriously worried about our plight and alluded to it being imperative that sales were made today (and remember the Kane deal fee is over three years, not good!). :stunned:

should we not worry about match day things like whos going to score and leave the money matters to the directors lets just in joy the footi

This is not necessarily a good thing.

We now have a player who wanted to leave and who we will now not get as much money for.

He will get slaughtered from the terraces if he plays until he does leave.

This could be very messy.

Why will he be slaughtered. The club agreed to sell him Hall chose to stay. He could have gone to a top championship side on more money and he decided to stay out Southend. No how desperate to leave can he be?

I suggest he will get a round of applause for choosing to be at Southend rather than Blackpool

Indeed we are in dire need of money, however we have sold one so thats something. Even a third of 200K is enough to pay the players for a couple of months.

Because it is highly unlikely he chose to stay. The deal didnt go through but he wanted to leave.

If you really think he chose to stay at Southend rather than challenge for the Premiership on 5 times his salary you are kidding yourself. I dont blame him at all for wanting to either...

If that was the case (ie. a structured deal that essentially remained the same with Hall joining on loan) that would probably be the best solution. Can't imagine Blackpool would have a problem with that given the deal was already agreed before the deadline was missed. As with Kane a sell-on % with add-ons would be a must. Guess we'll see what happens but I'm quite sure we've seen the last of Hall in a Blues shirt.

Ryan Hall from Southend almost signed, deal arranged at 10:55pm, couldn't get it done in time.

Anything that puts the future of our club in serious jeopardy financially isn't a trivial matter and yes as a die-hard of 25 years it does worry me. It's difficult to just "enjoy the football" when the finances of the club are allegedly in a right mess again. I remember how it felt around 2 and a half years ago and it wasn't exactly a stress-free time to be a Shrimper.

As we appear to have missed out on £150,000 for Mohsni and £250,000 for Hall I think RM will be tearing his wonderful hair out right now.
