Bale started when we beat them 2-1 in 2006, but Pearce is still the better option for LB anyway.

I think we'll struggle for defenders. Pearce played centre-half enough during his career to slot in there with Bale at left back.

Apologies to Bale; some duff info there! Bale back in and, as Beefy suggests, Pearce moved across. Brian Laws had a decent top flight career, so he's in for the moment.

Shilton is in if we get confirmation of him having played against us for Plymouth.

GK - David James
RB - Brian Laws
DF -
DF - Stuart Pearce
LB - Gareth Bale
RW - Darren Anderton
CM - Nobby Stiles
CM - Bobby Charlton
LW - George Best
FW - Peter Beardsley
FW - Kevin Keegan

Steve Bruce (96/97 ish) and Matthew Upson more recently played against us for Birmingham, both probably better options than Laws.

Edit: Also, didn't Chris Waddle play against us as player manager for Burnley (instead of Anderton?).

They are both going in. Upson is a bit of a donkey but he has won over 20 England caps. Bruce somehow never did, but I think his career went quite well! plus he may well have played against us for Gillingham as a youngster.

Chris Waddle did play against us for Burnley, he came off the bench for them in the 97/98 season. Anderton to the subs bench surely?

John Barnes and errrrr Luther Blissett, Pat Rice? All at Watford in the rival years!!

Just checked up on Barnes; Watford had moved clear of us by the time he started playing for them.

What position did Rice play? Right back?

Anyone know about Banks?

Anderton out, Waddle in!

Steve Coppell for Tranmere in 197* something

I know we won 1 -0 with an Alan Moody penalty.
