The Olympics thread

US 49-37 China at the half.... LBJ is running the show, and looks like USA actually want this, really good game

That bloody American calling the scores is really annoying.

We saw some of the archery at Athens four years ago and the same bloke was doing the commentating then. Although he's very cheesy it was useful having him doing the commentary as he kept everyone informed of the state of play.

This is where it took place - second only to Roots Hall in my list of favourite sporting venues!

Another gold, Rebecca Adlington gives Britain it's first women's swimming gold since 1960. Jo Jackson gets the bronze. Well done ladies.

Just seen the re-run (re-swim?!) of that race. Cracking stuff, made the hairs on my arms stand up. Well done girls!

Phelps still on for the eight as well...

anyone think that Tom Daleys dive partner was the limiting factor of that partnership?! that kid is seriously talented!

Only saw a little bit of the diving this morning, they were 7th in the final when i left home, where did they finish or is it still going on?

Well done to Nicole Cooke & Rebecca Addlington, you did GB proud. HAd a lump in my throat when Cooke got her gold medal, the anthem playing, her beaming, and the great wall of china in the background. Brilliant.

it finished at about 8.30. Yeah both golds were extremely impressive... both showing real guts at the end to overhaul competitors and pipping them to the gold!

the swimming standard of the has been really good.

Although we finished 8th in the Mens 4x100, we were only 0.5 seconds off the world record.... sadly for us, the US smashed the world record by an unbelievale 4 seconds!

how to people stand about this? i can understand that swimming is improving internationally... phelps and co really are superb athletes, but how much comes down to the suits, and how much to the pools? world records are getting smashed left right and centre, and fair play that the atheletes are doing everything legal to do this, but when is it going to end?

Andy Murray just lost in straight sets. Oh well, Nadal would have spanked him in the quarters anyway!

We're talking about exactly that at work currently. Swimming records always seem to be getting beat, it must be impossible to keep track of them all.

It's a bit like that question from 'The Office' - will there ever be a boy who can swim faster than a shark?

surely there must be an arguement to swim slightly slower in the first length, so the water isnt so choppy on the way back??
