Big game in the West last night with San Antonio winning at Dallas. Not only that, but Dirk Nowitzki's been ruled out for two weeks.
I don't think this Dallas side will ever win a Championship - they will look back on the middle of this decade as their big chance but they always fell just short.
Just had a look at the latest standings and the West is unbelievably close. It's anyone's guess what order that top six is going to end up in.
Dallas might be the one on the outside looking in at the end of the season, especially without Nowitzki. They should be OK for another couple seasons, though, Dirk is only 29, so he should be playing at a high level for a few more years. Although, I'm not sure he is a lock to stay in Dallas when his contract expires, he might relish the opportunity to play alongside another legitimate star elsewhere.
The West this season is ridiculous, the team that finishes in ninth could very well be the first team in NBA history to finish with 50 wins and miss the playoffs. It looks like it might be the Nugs, but they have now pulled to within half a game of Golden State, and a game and a half of Dallas. This week will go a long way to deciding who gets in, with the Nuggets hosting both teams this week and Dallas traveling to Oakland on Sunday.
