The NBA Thread...

Big game in the West last night with San Antonio winning at Dallas. Not only that, but Dirk Nowitzki's been ruled out for two weeks.

I don't think this Dallas side will ever win a Championship - they will look back on the middle of this decade as their big chance but they always fell just short.

Just had a look at the latest standings and the West is unbelievably close. It's anyone's guess what order that top six is going to end up in.

Dallas might be the one on the outside looking in at the end of the season, especially without Nowitzki. They should be OK for another couple seasons, though, Dirk is only 29, so he should be playing at a high level for a few more years. Although, I'm not sure he is a lock to stay in Dallas when his contract expires, he might relish the opportunity to play alongside another legitimate star elsewhere.

The West this season is ridiculous, the team that finishes in ninth could very well be the first team in NBA history to finish with 50 wins and miss the playoffs. It looks like it might be the Nugs, but they have now pulled to within half a game of Golden State, and a game and a half of Dallas. This week will go a long way to deciding who gets in, with the Nuggets hosting both teams this week and Dallas traveling to Oakland on Sunday.

Good win for the Spurs last night... Magic very much the in-form team and when I fell asleep, admittedly half way through the second, Magic seemed to be in control and were nailing 3 pointers from everywhere. Important win for Dallas too which may just help them sneak in.

I'd really like to see Celtics win tonight, they looked complacent lately and they'll need to perform against the Suns or they'll get turned over.

yeah orlando looked quality in the first half... they really have hit some form at the right time so last night was a big shock. i think i fell asleep about the same time!

Just watching the highlights of the Raptors Cavs game where LeBron James broke the record for the all time point record for the Cavs and, christ, he was on form. The place erupted when he got the points.

I'm quite partial to the Green on Black Celtics jersey... It'd have to be KG's though ;)

i've always been a big williams fan, and although orlando have always been my team, their jerseys never really looked that nice. Celtics jerseys are always sexy! would have the green/white one tho!

If you're talking Celtics uniforms it has to be the classic one as worn by Larry Legend...

BIRDMAN!!

Good win for Celts last night, Can fully see them going on now and clinching that 1st seed place. Just to complete the humiliation of Heat, they lost to the Knicks last night...

The fact that my Milwaukee Bucks have lost twice to the Heat in little over a week is excruciatingly annoying. We really are shocking.

Great game between the Nuggets and Mavs last night, with the Nugs winning by 13 despite being down 10 at the half. The win also means that if the Nugs and Mavs end up tied for 8th at the end of the season the Nuggets will get into the playoffs by virtue of winning the season series. However, the best news of the night was definitely the return of Nene Hilario. Nene was diagnosed with testicular cancer only 2.5 months ago, so it was great to see him back out there on the court, even if it was only for a minute in garbage time.

With the Nuggets beating the Warriors on Saturday night and the Warriors defeating the Mavs on Sunday, there is now a three way tie for the last 2 playoff spots in the west, with each team having just 9 left to play. It will be hard for Denver to keep pace over the next two nights, though, as they have Phoenix away on Monday, then host them in Denver on Tuesday.

What a finish for the Bucks last night then!

108-109 down, seconds left on the clock, from the time-out... Pass to Sessions who sinks one from the edge of the 3-point line on the buzzer for the win.
