The Ladies World Cup starting now!

when someone dosent give credit where credit is due as London Blue failed to do by insinuating the Colombrian goal was a fluke i get annoyed , and yes i am and have been since 2012 an Australian citizen , but i still love England very much , he LB just upset me .
Seriously i hope the best team on the day wins .And the referee or var dosent have a big say on the end result.
Fair comment. I'm surprised you don't have dual citizenship. That said, I so want to stuff the Aussies out of sight, however we win. And I'm sure, given the Aussie mentality, they will feel the same about us. Could be a very entertaining, and bruising, game.

that Colmbian goal was no mistake, she looked and played that shot ,she meant that , give credit where its due mate . And i hope the Aussies kick your *** in the semi .
I will always give credit to the opposition if i think it's deserved, but on this occasion I don't.

As for the semi, Australia in Australia? I fully expect us to lose, especially as the Ausies are the only team to beat England since SW took charge.

Have to call for an Aussie win, as my SZ sweep team and I do badly want my chipped Chris Powell mug for winning 😂
Serious note England haven’t played well but got through and that’s all you need, Aussie well organised and if Sam Kerr fit could be a difference against our defence, though I do feel Lionesses will not have a better chance to get through to the finals and dare say lift the trophy, we can dare to dream a bit more

Why?

Oh, and for any avoidance of doubt.....I love living here, love Australia in many many ways and was very happy for them to win last night.

What the Matildas are doing for football here is amazing, they are changing the whole landscape of football in Oz. As a whole, women and men.

HOWEVER I could never change the football team I support. I'm an England fan and very much want us to spoil the party here on Wednesday.

Believe they were ranked 10 th in world so no surprise to see them get this far, can only be good for ladies football teams like Oz, Japan, Columbia are emerging and taking on the bigger nations without fear

Even though I was born in Rochford. I’ve been in Australia since 1967, so essentially I’m Australian now. I do have a soft spot for England still.

This tournament has been a revelation as the amount of people going to watch the games live. It has really caught the imagination of the country. I was out in town last night and the pubs were absolutely packed and that was for both games.

I’m looking forward to the game Wednesday as I think it’ll be a cracker and I know most won’t like it, Go the Matildas.

Japan aren't emerging, they were the top team a fair few years ago. They, and the US, are being caught by the rest of the world.

I thought my post explained it.
Obviously not to thickos like me. The fact that one country has beaten another country once recently, does not make it odds on that they will again, especially when the Lionesses have discovered the knack of winning even when they don't play well. All will be revealed net week.

Agreed. If anything, the fact that it was such a rare loss (to the Aussies) under Wiegman suggests to me that Wiegman and the team usually get their approach right and they will likely want to put right any past failures - with this one being top of the pile.

I think the defeat to the Aussies really helped the belief in the Aussie team, and has helped support their journey to the semis - and for that much at least it’s a good thing they won the earlier game against us. However, I believe in Sarina’s ability to understand and learn from that defeat, and in the team’s desire and ability to produce a different result this time.

However, if we lose fair and square then fair enough and in that circumstance I’ll be cheering the Matildas in the final.

I don't disagree with any of that, I just think a home championship is a very different prospect. England should know that. We've only won a major competition (men or women) on home soil. I just think the Ausies are benefitting from the same boost.

Obviously I hope I'm wrong.

My problem is I'm an eternal optimist. I always think we're going to win tournaments and the National League! (Too optimistic?)

Hope the officials are a damn sight better than in the Colombian game, several over-zealous challenges ignored by the ref that would normally have resulted in yellow cards.

Must have been the wife of the nob that reff'ed our game at Daggers yesterday then.

Indeed. That Guzman that came on as a sub should have been off with 2 yellows after about 5 mins.

Whereabouts in Oz are you mate? I’m in Brisbane and was lucky enough as I said to be in the stadium (in fact I’ve been to every game at Suncorp so far apart from Ireland v Nigeria).

It’s been completely amazing, the whole World Cup. Way beyond my wildest expectations and the success of Australia means people I know are watching football who previously have never engaged with the sport. That is so brilliant to see and experience first hand.
