The team are great, the squad is even greater. But the real star (for me at least) is Sarina Wiegman. I think she's one of the best coaches in the world, male or female. Just to underline that, this is England's record under her (from Wikipedia so I don't know if it includes today, although it looks like it does given the comment above the stats):This team. What a performance. Lauren Hemp was absolutely unreal, and that goal by Toone was a banger.
Wiegman has made the final in the last four major tournaments that she has coached, including two (soon to be three) wins. Lots of talk over here that the US will try and poach her away from England. The team are great, the squad is even greater. But the real star (for me at least) is Sarina Wiegman. That is incredible. Forget the goals for because England have had some almighty wins, e.g. 20-0, but to have only lost one match, and to have only let in 15 goals is pretty impressive.
Let's hope they can just win the next match. After that I couldn't care less!
I wouldn't blame them. I really rate her.Wiegman has made the final in the last four major tournaments that she has coached, including two (soon to be three) wins. Lots of talk over here that the US will try and poach her away from England.
Why would she want to go to a team that can't even make the World Cup quarter finals. Bunch of losers!Wiegman has made the final in the last four major tournaments that she has coached, including two (soon to be three) wins. Indeed! Most enjoyable sharing my joy at England's triumph with my board of directors this morning, a few of whom are huge 'soccer' fans. Why would she want to go to a team that can't even make the World Cup quarter finals. Bunch of losers!
I often found that Americans sense of irony and humour are entirely different to ours. I managed a large procurement back in the day and one of the bidders was the then CSC. Massive company with huge resources but humour wasn't one of them, least ways English humour. I had endless fun tweaking them without them realising what was going on. That said, they were decent folk, but didn't win the bid. I did get to tour NASA though as one of their evidence sites so all was not lost. Off topic, I shall now go and stand in a corner in disgrace.Indeed! Most enjoyable sharing my joy at England's triumph with my board of directors this morning, a few of whom are huge 'soccer' fans.
