Yes but with all respect do you not think if the nation was healthier we'd have more capacity to deal with stuff like respiratory illnesses and pandemics?@hlane17 " I know some will go on about protecting NHS, being selfish taking up beds, but obesity and smoking are also self-damaging choices but we don't go condemning people for the strain that causes do we?"
Smoking and obesity aren't contagious though.
I agree. I'm not against devolved administrations, but in times of crisis it has to make sense to have a united response and for us all to be moving in the same direction.Which seems crazy in the grand scale of things. Devolved administration in cases like this make no sense.
Absolutely... and whilst there will always be the exception, once the data is in and they know more about Omicron and the effects it has (which I hope will be 99% very mild), they will take that step and we should be done.If we wish for 'normal' life then we need to let it go someday and accept it's here to stay.
But that won't happen though will it. They will be expecting the NHS to protect them if they become seriously ill and need a bed in hospital. That's what I find most ironic about the anti-vaxers. They say lets get on with it yet will expect care if their decision back fires. You can't have your cake and eat it.Don't want them? Crack on and if you're ill then it's your fault and you reap the consequences.
Yes they’ll be expecting the NHS to take the fall for what could have been a bad decision for them. But hasn’t that always been the case? Drunkards getting beds on a weekend, people getting treatment for self inflicted illness e.g. type 2 diabetes. I think it comes hand in hand with a national health service. But that won't happen though will it. Don't get me wrong, I literally despise the government and how they behave but I simply cannot stand some of the pathetic arguments and YouTube evidence that the anti-vaxers come out with. I know a anti-vaxer who has covid right now (and quite poorly) and has been going out knowing full well they shouldn't be and don't care that they could potentially kill someone or ruin someones Christmas etc etc.
If/when Boris puts in restrictions how on earth can he actually expect anyone to follow them, personally I think he doesn't actually care.
I know I've been reducing what I do recently because I don't want to have to isolate over Christmas but regardless of what rules Boris brings in I will be seeing family on Christmas Day. I've followed the rules throughout but even for me now I'm getting a bit sick of it. We've all been testing every few days and will test before we meet up, what more can you do these days.
Also when it comes to people going out when positive, that’s just ridiculous. If you know you’re positive and you knowingly infect others that’s beyond immoral.
I just have no faith in people who need to deflect from their own issues to do the right thing and let the country heal properly. Should this wave be mild then everyone's on the same footing going forward but they don't see it that way.Absolutely... and whilst there will always be the exception, once the data is in and they know more about Omicron and the effects it has (which I hope will be 99% very mild), they will take that step and we should be done.
But you can still go to the pub ?The world has gone crazy, the welsh have made it illegal to go to work! When does this end. There is now talk of circuit breaker after christmas. The war has been lost on this, we are going to catch it sooner or later no matter what you do. Let's just get on with our lives
I'm doing a self-enforced lockdown pre-Christmas so I can see family over the course of a couple days with relative peace of mind.I wonder how many are giving games a miss or avoiding the pub due to concerns about the Omicron variant? Looking at crowds from last night’s Arsenal match no one seems that worried. Surely any restrictions crowbarred in now will be slamming the stable door shut after the horse has bolted. Wonder when the data will surface..
Probably be a curfew announced for next week.Scotland and wales are leading the way on this. But you can still go to the pub ?
Wales and Scotland don't seem intent on letting this go at all.
Yeah think a lot of people are doing this ie prioritising Christmas with family, probably wise as I know a few people who’ve tested positive and had to cancel plans. If no big announcement on Boxing Day I’d expect most people to carry on watching footy or meeting up with mates for drinks. I’ll be at Bromley regardless as I’m staying 5 mins up the road.I'm doing a self-enforced lockdown pre-Christmas so I can see family over the course of a couple days with relative peace of mind.
Won't be going back to watch SUFC until the embargo is lifted, not COVID related though.
Will be going to pub in the days after Christmas though for sure.
Didn't know a curfew was on the cards. COVID knows what time of day it is now then ?Probably be a curfew announced for next week.Scotland and wales are leading the way on this.
A curfew has already been announced from next week in Catalonia (subject to a High Court appeal. (Mind you I'm guessing a curfew like here from 1-6 am wouldn't be a problem for most Brits except on NYE).Didn't know a curfew was on the cards. COVID knows what time of day it is now then ?
Last time the UK had these kinds of rules on pubs everyone would just turn up earlier in the afternoon and start drinking earlier. Not sure what it achieves really.
Only reason I'm isolating is because I couldn't be the one throwing a spanner into the works, we've got a lot planned this year and we don't intend to cancel it.Yeah think a lot of people are doing this ie prioritising Christmas with family, probably wise as I know a few people who’ve tested positive and had to cancel plans. An overnight one wouldn't impact too much in the UK other than the clubbing scene, but again I wouldn't want to see one at all here. That industry has been wrecked enough already.A curfew has already been announced from next week in Catalonia (subject to a High Court appeal. Yeah absolutely it won’t stop people mixing will just hit hospitality even more.Only reason I'm isolating is because I couldn't be the one throwing a spanner into the works, we've got a lot planned this year and we don't intend to cancel it.
Closing/restricting pubs will likely just push gatherings into people's homes or gardens, the home 'pub' has become more popular in the last couple years.
