The Goat

I think the trouble with goater is in his pre match warm up

After that hes knackered..................

Quite. When did he last do anything for Southend United?

1500 quid a week, far too much for a slow, non tackling, injury prone ex superstar!
Forgive me for asking, but how is it that everyone bar me seems to know how much the players earn?

Incidentally, if that figure is correct, I would say it was good business at the time. My guess would have been 3-4K.
I heard the Goat was on £1,200 p/w - for what he gives to Southend United thats an absolute snip for the football club.

FEED THE GOAT AND HE WILL SCORE,
FEED THE GOAT AND HE WILL SCORE!!

Working on my suntan you mean?

I quit and am in South America at the moment! However finding the football impossible to ignore....

Glad to see the Goat back and scoring.

According to soccerbase, he's scored 7 in 14 starts?
if those stats are accurate, it's disgraceful. One every two games, pretty pathetic if you ask me. And for a manager who let Bramble go, not doing much for Tilson's reputation. Definitely his worst signing. In fact, the worst Southend signing ever. Tilson out. The Goat out. Worst Southend duo ever. Bring back Alvin Martin and Danny Webb. Then we'll see what we can do with a real team, i'd rather have that lower table mediocrity of the lowest league instead of Shaun "less prolific than Pele" Goater

Give it a rest, Tone.  Freddy hasn't gone, and I'm afraid that on this one - you're wrong.
He's terrifying the defences at the moment isn't he

After today's goal Wiggy, it's clear to see why he put the boots on, and why Tilly's the boss, and you just come on here moaning all the time, despite the fact we are top and playing above everyone's expectations, you find something to moan about!

omg goater is great , sometimes its not what he does on the pitch its what he does in the changing room and at training. u dont no nuffin

From the Yeovil-Mad match report:

It can be fun to be the dissenting voice, but sadly I think wiggy is beating you for credibility at the moment ORM!

Quote[/b] (Matt the Shrimp @ Feb. 01 2006,10:35)]I don't think the Goat being injured has helped; but from an extremely bright start in September and October (when I thought the Goat was a goal-threat and a clear asset to the side - some of his through balls to the likes of Lawson, Freddy or Gray were superb), he has gone to zilch in terms of end product. Being injured hasn't helped... but then he has been injured for the best part of 3 months.

That's not really acceptable. Anyone other than the Goat and we'd be furious with them; well, it's time for the Goat to cease trading on the affection that we clearly (and rightly) have for him, and time for him to get match-fit in a hurry, and to start banging the goals in again.
I am sorry but may be I have misread this, but are you saying it is unacceptable that the Goat has been injured for 3 months?

If so I am surprised at you Matt, what about Jay Smith cannot say he has been an ever present in the side for a couple of years now, but nobody has berated him like they have the goat. Surely Jay has cost the club more in money than the Goat has in contrast to what they have given the club.

IMO Goater wasn't good enough today and wouldn't have been starting on Friday until his goal, but Tilly seemed pleased enough.

Bradbury seemed decent enough, I'd play him and Eastwood on Friday night.

For what little its worth I think Nicolau and Dudfield were the worst signings, and I htink he learned from each of them, and now only adds players that better the squad, rather than squad players.

I need add nothing to the comments made by the learned gentleman from Aultbea.

Tone, it's sad to see you embarrassing yourself in this way. You really ought to let this one go...
