Quite. When did he last do anything for Southend United?[b said:Quote[/b] (wiggy @ Jan. 31 2006,19:41)]Even today in the reserves he ambled around like an old man. Must be embarrassed to collect his vast salary < compared to Connie and Dudders> for what he has contributed.
Beaten to it[b said:Quote[/b] (Barmy Army @ Feb. 04 2006,16:44)]**BUMP**
I heard the Goat was on £1,200 p/w - for what he gives to Southend United thats an absolute snip for the football club.[b said:Quote[/b] (Joolz @ Feb. 01 2006,13:45)]Forgive me for asking, but how is it that everyone bar me seems to know how much the players earn?[b said:Quote[/b] (wiggy @ Feb. 01 2006,12:05)]1500 quid a week, far too much for a slow, non tackling, injury prone ex superstar![b said:Quote[/b] (hexagon_sun @ Feb. 01 2006,11:53)]I'm genuinely interested wiggy so I'll ask again - exactly how much is Goater's "vast salary"?
Incidentally, if that figure is correct, I would say it was good business at the time. My guess would have been 3-4K.
Working on my suntan you mean?[b said:Quote[/b] (Matt the Shrimp @ Feb. 01 2006,10:35)]P.S. Been busy at work of late, HKB? You've not been on here much recently...
if those stats are accurate, it's disgraceful. One every two games, pretty pathetic if you ask me. And for a manager who let Bramble go, not doing much for Tilson's reputation. Definitely his worst signing. In fact, the worst Southend signing ever. Tilson out. The Goat out. Worst Southend duo ever. Bring back Alvin Martin and Danny Webb. Then we'll see what we can do with a real team, i'd rather have that lower table mediocrity of the lowest league instead of Shaun "less prolific than Pele" Goater[b said:Quote[/b] (South Bank Hank @ Feb. 04 2006,18:16)]Can anyone confirm the old fella's stats for this season?
According to soccerbase, he's scored 7 in 14 starts?
Yep, Wiggy's right on the money yet again![b said:Quote[/b] (FeedTheGoat @ Feb. 04 2006,18:22)]if those stats are accurate, it's disgraceful. One every two games, pretty pathetic if you ask me. He's terrifying the defences at the moment isn't he[b said:Quote[/b] (Matt the Shrimp @ Feb. 01 2006,10:36)]Give it a rest, Tone. [b said:Quote[/b] ]A free-kick from Duncan Jupp was nodded on by the ever-dangerous Freddy Eastwood and Bentley took it in his stride to crash in a low drive from the edge of the box.
I am sorry but may be I have misread this, but are you saying it is unacceptable that the Goat has been injured for 3 months?[b said:Quote[/b] (Matt the Shrimp @ Feb. 01 2006,10:35)]I don't think the Goat being injured has helped; but from an extremely bright start in September and October (when I thought the Goat was a goal-threat and a clear asset to the side - some of his through balls to the likes of Lawson, Freddy or Gray were superb), he has gone to zilch in terms of end product. Being injured hasn't helped... but then he has been injured for the best part of 3 months.
That's not really acceptable. Anyone other than the Goat and we'd be furious with them; well, it's time for the Goat to cease trading on the affection that we clearly (and rightly) have for him, and time for him to get match-fit in a hurry, and to start banging the goals in again.
I need add nothing to the comments made by the learned gentleman from Aultbea.[b said:Quote[/b] (Shrimp in a Kilt @ Feb. 04 2006,20:13)]From the Yeovil-Mad match report:[b said:Quote[/b] (* ORM * @ Feb. 04 2006,19:36)]He's terrifying the defences at the moment isn't he[b said:Quote[/b] (Matt the Shrimp @ Feb. 01 2006,10:36)]Give it a rest, Tone. It can be fun to be the dissenting voice, but sadly I think wiggy is beating you for credibility at the moment ORM!
