I reckon we could have pep guardiola has manager and some of you still wouldnt be happy.

Guardiola, Mourinho, Ferguson....It really doesn't matter who was manager here. They would all struggle to build a side capable of challenging at the right end of the League 2 table. You can only work with the tools you are given. Here that is a set of glass hammers and chocolate blowtorches.

Indeed, but why?

I personally think we have decent players whilst lacking a bit of depth.

Tactically we are playing decent football, yet arent creating enough in the last 3rd.

Hard to say exactly what needs changing.

We don't have quality players who can defend and up the other end put the ball into the net,We are 14th which is a fair reflection of the current crop of players.

Just because we arent winning doesnt necessarily mean we dont have players who can, think you have written off the players far too quickly.

Barry Corr should be able to score goals, he has before (and is still playing well). Eastwood already has 4 and can do it.

At the back White is a good defender as is Phillips and Coker is better than what we had last year. Prosser is debatable but I think he is doing a decent job.

Midfield I would say is also better than most of last year, bar the MKandawire/Laird partnership.

I genuinely believe this squad of players should have at least won 2 or 3 of the last six games, its not like we have simply been beaten by the better team, most have been very close or in some of them we deserved to win.

This is spot on.

The team have only scored 9 goals in 10 games with Fred netting 4,The other players have only managed 5 in 10!When we concede are this team capable of scoring 2 whilst keeping it out at the other end?..So far they cannot,Of course 2 or 3 wins on the bounce would do wonders but IMO we lack the necessary guile to unlock defences and somebody to finish.

Not blaming Phil he can only get what the budget warrants.

Crewe went on a bad run when they went up, they had the players but werent producing to start with.

I personally think we have a squad that is underperforming. Yes it could be strengthened, but as it is we should be doing better and Brown should be getting more from them. To be fair he isnt far off,as I said the games are tight, it just needs a little more spark going forward.

As much as I don't much care from Brown, he did make a valid point on Football Focus in that he sees the players perform Monday to Friday then on Saturday they don't perform as he knows they can. If they were firing all cylinders, we would be near the top. We need a bit of luck too.

Agree with most of this, apart from writing the players off too soon bit, quite a few have had time to prove themselves at SUFC yet still underperforming, I would counter with the possibility that some of the team are overrated, Hurst can be good but is not consistent enough in being good, Prosser has improved but not the dominating CB required.

About sums it up. I and many other supporters of this club, have over the years, watched Blues sides that have lost, deserved to lose and were incapable of little else.

The current crop of players have not got enough points on the board to make us happy but the way they are playing you can see there is the potential/ability to improve results.
Its a waiting game at the moment. We have to wait and see if the points tally improves or not. Whether team and individual performances warrant the position they are in come January.

I have a sneaky suspicion that things will get a lot better.

spot on --exactly how I feel

And this is why I am starting to not like him. Its HIS job to make them perform in matches to the standard that they are capable off. Did he take any responsibility for them not performing? If your team is not performing to the standard you know they can then find out why and put in place what is needed to fix it --- that's his job!

But if you have a job with basic tools, inferior systems or average staff - you can't expect to compete with the better companies!!!!

With this in mind, why should PB be out - Sturrock was backed to a certain extent, Brown has been under a constant embargo with limited funds and stuck with some of Sturrock's mistakes stuck on contracts - (Paul Smith, Anthony Straker). Throw into the mix that Brown's hands were tied in losing most of our 'better players' Cresswell, Clohessy, Tomlin, Assombolonga.

If you look at our restrictions, on paper what would be a realistic target for Southend United...I mean a realistic target and not what the moaning Southend fans want or expect because we all want more. Looking at the threadbare squad, embargo etc the play offs would be immense, top half arguably an acheivement, I would say mid table or mid table safety would be about par.

Brown sees them in training and picks them . He picks Straker and leaves other midfielders that he has signed on the bench -- so sorry but this part of your argument doe not add up
