Cricket's such a dull sport isn't it.

though on another note, well done to Amla on getting a big ton for Essex today to (hopefully) save an embarrasing defeat to Glamorgan.

Dismal performance so far. Monty showing precisely why he shouldn't have been picked ahead of Rashid and a series of batting failures on a benign pitch. Woeful. Relying on the rain dance, as so often in the past - except this time the Aussies aren't even much cop. Embarrassing stuff. :(

Agreed. IMO Onions should have played instead of Monty. However Ponting & Katich have gone on to make big 100's, something that the England batsmen failed to do. 500 seems to be the minimum requirement on this pitch.

Looking at the forecast it's going to chuck it down this afternoon. If so the convicts need to get another 100 or so quickly, and hope the forecast is better tomorrow.

Thank **** we picked two spinners.

Hopefully we can learn our lesson and never pick two orthodox spinners in the same team ever ,ever again. But knowing England we'll still labour on under the illusion that orthodox finger spinners can be more than over fillers, despite the ever growing evidence to the contrary. England have picked two spinners in India, West Indies and now England in the last 12 months and we've never looked like bowling a side out, despite the pitches offering turn. Ditch the orthodox finger spinners and concentrate on trying to get it to swing. If you need someone to tie up an end, use Collingwood.

Chances of us batting the last day and an hour or so out ? Remember this IS England we are talking about

As if to back up my point, Harmy is in the wickets, again, today.

Billy Doctrove has been woeful in this match. He would have dismissed Strauss (wrongly) the ball before too, had it not been called a no-ball. Strauss got lots of bat on it, more off the face than edge, yet that useless idiot gave leg-byes.

If Cook isn't dropped then i'd question the English selection commitee and whoever makes those decisions.
